Benjamin Ormerod
Sir Benjamin Ormerod (7 September 1890 – 21 September 1974) was a lawyer and Judge in England and Wales. Ormerod was appointed a Justice of the Probate, Divorce and Admiralty Division of the High Court of England and Wales on 25 May 1948. He was knighted a few days later. Ormerod was transferred to the Queen's Bench Division (known as the King's Bench Division until 1952) on 6 June 1950. He was promoted to be a Lord Justice of Appeal in the Court of Appeal of England and Wales on 21 January 1957. Queen's Bench Division
The King's Bench Division (or Queen's Bench Division when the monarch is female) of the High Court of Justice deals with a wide range of common law cases and has supervisory responsibility over certain lower courts. It hears appeals on points of law from magistrates' courts and from the Crown Court. These are known as appeals by way of case stated, since the questions of law are considered solely on the basis of the facts found and stated by the authority under review. A Lord Justice of Appeal or Lady Justice of Appeal is a judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales, the court that hears appeals from the High Court of Justice, the Crown Court and other courts and tribunals.
