Benjamin M. Dever (died April 20, 1942) was an American politician from Maryland. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Harford County, from 1924 to 1926. Early life Benjamin M. Dever was born to Mary (née Arnold) and George V. Dever. Career Dever was a Democrat. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Harford County, from 1924 to 1926. Dever worked as a farmer and cattle dealer in Perryman. Personal life Dever married Susan "Susie" E. Carty, granddaughter of George W. Baker and niece of William Benjamin Baker, on December 22, 1897. They had two children, Mrs. Joseph Ball and George. Harford County is located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2020 census, the population was 260,924. Its county seat is Bel Air. Harford County is included in the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Washington-Baltimore-Arlington, DC-MD-VA-WV-PA Combined Statistical Area. History In 1608 the area was settled by Massawomecks and Susquehannocks. The first European to see the area was John Smith in 1608 when he traveled up the Chesapeake Bay from Jamestown. Perryman is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Harford County, Maryland, United States. The population was 2,342 at the 2010 census. History St. George's Parish Vestry House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Amtrak's Northeast Corridor high-speed rail line runs through the community; however, Amtrak and MARC trains do not stop as there is no station. Geography Perryman is located in southern Harford County at (39.468509, −76.213090). It is bordered to the west by Church Creek and the Bush River, an arm of Chesapeake Bay; to the south by Sod Run, an inlet of the Bush River; to the east by Chelsea Road and Aberdeen Proving Ground; and to the north by the city of Aberdeen. William Benjamin Baker
William Benjamin Baker (July 22, 1840 – May 17, 1911) was a U.S. Congressman who represented the second Congressional district of Maryland from 1895 to 1901. He was considered the father of rural mail delivery in the United States. Early life William Benjamin Baker was born on July 22, 1840, near Aberdeen, Maryland to Elizabeth (née Greenland) and George W. Baker. He was one of fifteen children, including Sarah R., George A., Lydia C., James B., Charles W., John H., Susie E., Alice C. and George A. His father was a canner in Aberdeen. He attended the common schools and was privately tutored. He remained on the family's homestead until he was 32 years old. His nephew Frank E. Baker was a state delegate. His uncle was John H.
