Benjamin Leon
Benjamin Leon, Jr. is a Cuban-American businessman and horse enthusiast. Career Leon was born in Oriente, Cuba in 1944. Leon migrated to Miami, Florida in 1961. Leon's father founded Clinica Cuba in 1964 in order to help meet the healthcare needs of newly immigrated Cubans. Leon and his father also founded Clínica Asociación Cubana (CAC), one of the first health maintenance organizations in the United States. In 1994, Leon sold CAC to UnitedHealthCare for $500 million. In 1996, Leon founded Leon Medical Centers, which provides healthcare to Medicare patients. Leon Medical Centers is currently led by Leon's son, Benjamin Leon III, who serves as the company's CEO. Besilu Stables In the 1980s, Leon established Besilu Stables, and began to show and breed Paso Fino horses. In 2008, Leon bought his first Thoroughbred, and soon after started racing horses. The Eclipse Award is an American Thoroughbred horse racing award named after the 18th-century British racehorse and sire, Eclipse. An Eclipse Award Trophy is presented to the winner in each division that is made by a few small selected American foundries with expertise in studio bronze casting. It is then mounted on the hand-crafted native Kentucky walnut base to comprise the Eclipse Award on which a brass plate recites the award winner. Royal Delta
Royal Delta (February 2, 2008 – February 10, 2017) was a Champion American Thoroughbred Horse racing, racehorse. The daughter of Empire Maker was best known for winning back-to-back editions of the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic (later renamed the Breeders' Cup Distaff) and three consecutive Eclipse Awards (as American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly of 2011 and American Champion Older Female Horse of both 2012 and 2013). She won the Grade I horserace, Grade I Alabama Stakes, Alabama, Beldame Stakes, Beldame, Delaware Handicap, Delaware and Personal Ensign Stakes in addition to her Breeders' Cup triumphs. Oriente Province
Oriente (, "East") was the easternmost province of Cuba until 1976. The term "Oriente" is still used to refer to the eastern part of the country, which currently is divided into five different provinces. Fidel and Raúl Castro were born in a small town in this province (Birán). The origins of Oriente lie in the 1607 division of Cuba into a western and eastern administration. The eastern part was governed from Santiago de Cuba and it was subordinate to the national government in Havana.
