Sir Benjamin Cohen, 1st Baronet
Sir Benjamin Louis Cohen, 1st Baronet (18 November 1844 – 8 November 1909) was a British businessman and Conservative politician. Life He was the son of Louis Cohen, a stockbroker, and his wife Rebecca Keyser. After a private education he entered his father's firm. Apart from his business activities he was involved in public and political works and in supporting Jewish charities. In particular he served on the committees of the Stepney Jewish Schools, the Jews' Orphan Asylum and the Home for Aged Jews. He was also the President of the London Orphan Asylum. In 1887 his brother, Lionel Louis Cohen, president of the Board of Guardians for the Relief of the Jewish Poor, died. Benjamin succeeded him in the post, holding the office until 1900. Benjamin Jerry Cohen (born June 5, 1937 in Ossining, New York) is the ''Louis G. Lancaster Professor of International Political Economy'' at the University of California, Santa Barbara. At UCSB, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1991, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on international political economy. Cohen finished his undergraduate degree in 1959 and his doctorate degree in 1963, both in Economics, at Columbia University. From 1962 to 1964 Cohen was a research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. From 1964 to 1971 he was an assistant professor in the Economics department at Princeton University. Cohen had been a member of the faculty at Tufts University since 1971 and until he joined the faculty at UCSB he was the ''William L. Benjamin Cohen (born 14 August 1982) is a British web developer, entrepreneur and online publisher. He became known for his dot.com enterprises as a teenager and his dispute with Apple Computer over the domain "itunes.co.uk", and as the founder of LGBT news site ''PinkNews''. From 2006 until 2012 he was technology correspondent for ''Channel 4 News'' in the UK. Cohen has a diagnosis of MS. He campaigns on LGBT and disabled rights.
