Corbera D'Ebre
Corbera d'Ebre is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of la Terra Alta in Catalonia, Spain. It is one of the 12 municipalities comprising the wine-growing region of the Spanish '' Denominación de Origen'' classification of the Spanish wine Terra Alta. Civil War The town of the same name was completely destroyed in the Spanish Civil War during the Battle of the Ebro (25 July–16 November 1938) and although the lower part of the town was rebuilt, the upper part, known as Poble Vell (Old Town), including the old church on the hill, has been kept as a reminder. The town has one of the five information centres run by COMEBE, a public consortium, including the Generalitat de Catalunya, that was founded in 2001 to recover the historical memory of the areas in which the 115-day-long Battle of the Ebro, the longest, bloodiest and most decisive battle of the Spanish Civil War, took place. Gandesa
Gandesa () is the capital of the ''comarca'' of Terra Alta, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. History In the place known as ''Coll del Moro'' there is an ancient Iberian archaeological site belonging to the Ilercavones tribe that lived in this area before Roman times. Gandesa has a church with unusual and interesting sculptures on the Romanesque porch. The old winery of Gandesa, also known in Catalonia as one of the Wine Cathedrals, is from Modernisme and Noucentisme style and was designed by the architect Cèsar Martinell in 1919. Gandesa was at the center of fighting during the Battle of the Ebro in the Spanish Civil War. In the Summer of 1938 Republican forces crossed the Ebro in an attempt to throw back the Nationalist armies of General Franco. Tivissa
Tivissa is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Ribera d'Ebre, Catalonia, Spain. It is located below the La Llena massif. As well as the village of Tivissa itself, the municipality also includes the village of La Serra d'Almos, at the feet of the Montalt mountains, and the hamlets of Darmós and Llaberia. History The area was settled in prehistoric times, and cave paintings have been discovered in several sites near the village. In Iberian times, Tivissa was an important community, and the name itself may be of Iberian origin. There are the remains of an Iberian settlement at Banyoles, some five kilometres from the modern village and overlooking the Ebre river. The importance of these settlements was surely related to their position on the route through the pass of Coll de Fatxes, leading from the coast of Tarragona to what is now Zaragoza. Móra D'Ebre
Móra d'Ebre is the capital of the ''comarca'' of the Ribera d'Ebre in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the right bank of the Ebre river in the Móra Hollow, and is served by the N-420 road to Reus and Gandesa, the N-230 road to Lleida. The RENFE railway line between Tarragona and Saragossa runs along the left bank of the river, with a station at Móra la Nova opposite the urban centre of Móra d'Ebre.
