The Bengal Rowing Club is a rowing club located in Kolkata, India. History Foundation The foundation stone of the Bengal Rowing Club (then Marvari Rowing Club) club was laid on 25 August 1929. It took 6 years to finish constructions and finalise arrangements. The sports club was opened to its members in 1935. The club came to notice for its casual attire rules and intake of women members, which was in stark contrast to some of the other British clubs around the city. Rowing Federation Of India
The Rowing Federation of India (RFI) is the central body for the game of rowing in India. It was formed on 30 August 1976 with a view to make the sport of Rowing popular in India. It is affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association and Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron and Asian Rowing Federation . Ghanshyam Das Birla
Ghanshyam Das Birla (10 April 1894 – 11 June 1983) was an Indian businessman and member of the Birla Family. His father was Raja Baldevdas Birla. In 1884 A.D. Baldeo Das Birla went to Bombay in search of new avenues of trade. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion.
