Benetti is an Italian shipbuilding and boat building company based in Viareggio, Livorno, and Fano, owned by Azimut. Benetti designs and constructs motoryachts, and is one of the leading builders of custom superyachts, having won the ''Showboats International'' magazine "shipyard number 1" award six times in a row, the only yard to have done so. History Founded in 1873, when Lorenzo Benetti (1844–1914), bought the Darsena Luca shipyard to found the Benetti shipyard. The yard built commercial vessels, including fishing boats and Mediterranean trading ships. On his death in 1914, his sons Gino and Emilio took over, and renamed the yard Fratelli Benetti. They continued using wooden construction, but now built ocean-going ships, and some private yachts. Adriana Benetti (12 December 1919 – 24 February 2016) was an Italian actress. Biography Born in Quacchio, a town east of Ferrara, Benetti graduated from the Istituto Magistrale and then landed in Rome, where she was accepted at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. While there, she was discovered by Vittorio De Sica and subsequently made her debut at age 22 in his 1941 film ''Teresa Venerdì'' as the title character. In 1942, she appeared in director Alessandro Blasetti's celebrated ''Quattro passi fra le nuvole'', where she supported Gino Cervi in Luigi Zampa's ''C'è sempre un ma!'', and '' Avanti c'è posto...'', alongside Andrea Checchi and Aldo Fabrizi. Andrea Benetti (born 28 June 1980 in Turin) is an Italian slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1997 to 2013. He won a bronze medal in the C2 event at the 2007 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Foz do Iguaçu and again at the 2008 European Championships in Kraków. John Anthony Benetti (17 June 1937 – 31 October 2013) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Benetti was a popular player with Carlton supporters, who nicknamed him "Tank" due to his thick thighs and direct style of play from defence. He also earned the nickname "Troubles" from Carlton's then Chairman of Selectors Jack Wrout in response to his habit of complaining whenever he was omitted from the senior team. Benetti had played schoolboy football at CBC Parade alongside his first cousin Sergio Silvagni, who also started at Carlton in 1958.
