The Beneteau 37, also called the Oceanis 37 and the Moorings 37.2 for the yacht charter market, is a French sailboat that was designed by Groupe Finot, Finot/Conq as a Cruising (maritime), cruiser-Sailing (sport), racer and first built in 2006. Production The design was built by Beneteau in France and also in Marion, South Carolina, United States, starting in 2006, but it is now out of production. Design The Beneteau 37 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of glassfibre, with wood trim. It has a Fractional rig, fractional sloop rig, with a deck-stepped mast, one set of swept Spreader (sailboat), spreaders and aluminium spars with stainless steel wire standing rigging. The hull has a slightly raked stem, a reverse transom with a swimming platform, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a Ship's wheel, wheel and a fixed fin keel or optional deep-draft keel. Groupe Finot
Group Finot is a French boat design company based in Jouy-en-Josas. Founded by Jean-Marie Finot, the company specializes in the design of fiberglass sailboats. The company also collaborates with designer Pascal Conq as ''Groupe Finot - Conq'', based in Vannes, France. History The company was founded by Finot in 1969 when he designed his first boat, the International Offshore Rule Quarter Ton class champion Ecume de Mer (''Sea Foam'') that was built by Chantier Malliard. By 2017 the company had designed 61 boats for Beneteau, their biggest customer. The first design for Beneteau was in 1978.
