Karel Bendl
Karel Bendl, or german: Karl Bendl, pseudonym: ''Podskalský'' (16 April 1838, Prague, Bohemia, Austrian Empire 20 September 1897, Prague) was a Czech composer. Life Bendl was born and died in Prague. He studied at the organ school, where he met and befriended Antonín Dvořák one year before graduating with honors in 1858. By then he had already composed a number of small choral works. In 1861 his ''Poletuje holubice'' won a prize and at once became a favorite with the local choral societies. In 1864, Bendl went to Brussels, where for a short time he held the post of second conductor of the opera. After visiting Amsterdam and Paris. In Paris, he became influenced by the stage works of Charles Gounod and Ambroise Thomas and especially by Giacomo Meyerbeer. Petr Bendl
Petr Bendl (born 24 January 1966) is a Czech politician, who served as Minister of Agriculture from October 2011 to July 2013 in Cabinet of Prime Minister Petr Nečas and briefly as Minister of Transport under leadership of Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek. Bendl is a former governor of the Central Bohemian Region after serving two terms. He was Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) between 2010 and 2017. Bendl is a graduate at Engineering and Textile University in Liberec. After a short spell as firefighter, he worked as director of Kladno district office and municipal office's departments. In 1991 Bendl entered the Civic Democratic Party and as the party's leader he was elected member of the Kladno city assembly in 1994 becoming mayor of the city immediately. Bendl was also vice-president of the Union of Cities and Municipalities of the Czech Republic in 1997–1998. Ignaz Bendl
Ignaz Bendl (or Ignác Bendl, or Ignaz-Johann Bendl) (? - c.1730) was a Bohemian painter, sculptor, medalist, and ivory engraver, who worked mainly in Vienna and Brno. There is almost nothing known about his life. According to Grove's ''Dictionary of Art'', he was born, perhaps as the son of Johann-Georg Bendl, in Pfarrkirchen. There are two towns called Pfarrkirchen in Upper Austria, therefore it is undecided which one it might have been. There is no date of birth. He died circa 1730, but again no mention where. Remaining works: * twelve ivory reliefs (only one signed by him) of classical gods and heroes (1684) * twelve relief medallions with sybils's heads. Johann-Georg Bendl
Johann-Georg Bendl () or Jan Jiří Bendl () (before 1620 - Prague, 27 May 1680) was a Baroque sculptor, who worked mainly in Prague. He was the son of the Bohemian sculptor Georg Bendl (born ca. 1570, Prague, died 1656). Works The wooden pulpit (since destroyed) of the St. Wenceslas Church (of the Augustinian Order) in Prague, was probably one of his earliest works. He also sculpted the pulpit in the church Kostel Panny Marie pod Řetězem in the Prague district Malá Strana. All the most important churches in Prague eventually would order one or more statues. In 1648 he sculpted the statues for side chapels in the Church of Our Lady of Týn, the church on the main square of Prague. He decorated the dome of the St. Salvator church of the Jesuit Order in Prague with stucco in the period 1648–1649. This would later bring in new orders from these Jesuits in 1655–1660 to sculpt the stone statues for the portico and the pediment of the façade; at the end of his life, in 1675, ...
