Benjamin Christoffel Gerhardus Venter (born 15 May 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African rugby union player, currently playing with France, French Rugby Pro D2, Pro D2 side US Montauban, Montauban. His regular position is Lock (Rugby Union), lock or Flanker (rugby union), flanker. Career Youth He represented the side in the 2006 Under-19 Provincial Championship and the side in the 2007 and 2008 Under-21 Provincial Championships. That team won the Championships in both 2007 and 2008. Venter played most of his youth rugby on the Wing. Griquas Ben was part of the 2008 Currie Cup Premier Division squad and signed a senior professional contract with at the end of 2008. He was named in the senior professional squad for the 2009 Vodacom Cup and 2009 Currie Cup Premier Division competitions, but missed most of that season due to injury. South African Barbarians
South African Barbarians is an invitational rugby union club styled along the lines of Barbarian F.C. It was formed in 1960 by Frank Mellish, the former 1951–52 Springbok selector and manager, together with former Natal Rugby Union President, Harry Stacey. The club is directly affiliated to the South African Rugby Union. Club colours and emblem The club's colours are a light and dark blue quartered jersey with white shorts.
