Ben Sexton
Benjamin David Sexton (born 29 October 1972 in Papua New Guinea) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Western Bulldogs, Footscray and Carlton Football Club, Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. Born in Papua New Guinea, Sexton played his early football in the Bendigo Football League where he took the field for Sandhurst Football Club, Sandhurst. Footscray picked him up with the 86th pick of the 1988 VFL draft and he kicked five goals and three behinds on his league debut, against the Brisbane Bears at Western Oval. He kicked another three goals the following round but was dropped four weeks later after struggling for form. The 1992 AFL season was spent mostly as a defender but he could never establish his place in the Footscray team, although he put in the occasional good performance when pushed forward such as a haul of six goals and four behinds in a win over North Melbourne at the MCG in 1993. James Cook (Australian Footballer)
James Cook (born 7 January 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Attended St Virgils College in Hobart. Carlton Cook played at North Hobart while still a teenager and was recruited by Carlton with the second pick of the 1990 AFL draft, which they had gained by trading Warren McKenzie to Sydney. It was Carlton's earliest ever draft pick up until Marc Murphy in 2005. He had to wait three seasons to make his debut and in just his fourth league game kicked six goals in a win over Sydney at Optus Oval to earn an AFL Rising Star nomination, and better the five goals which he booted against Hawthorn two weeks earlier. His performances for the rest of the season were poor but he was picked in both the Qualifying Final and Semi Finals, where he kicked three and two goals respectively. Michael Sexton
Michael Sexton (born 5 March 1971) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton between 1990 and 2000 in the Australian Football League. A defender, Sexton was a member of Carlton's 1995 premiership team and an All Australian in both 1996 and 1997. He was recruited from the Sandhurst Dragons. The Sandhurst Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Dragons'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in Bendigo, Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Sandhurst is the former name of that city. The club teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football League, Bendigo Football Netball League. The football team is the second most-winning team of the BFL, with 27 premierships. History Sandhurst, who were then known as the Maroons, were one of the league's foundation clubs in 1880. They had been formed in June 1861, by Melbourne Football Club rulemaker J. B. Thompson. 1992 AFL Season
The 1992 AFL season was the 96th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured fifteen clubs, ran from 21 March until 26 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs. Prior to the season, the AFL ceased its role as the administrative body for football in Victoria after 95 years: this role was transferred, along with control of the reserves competition, to the newly established Victorian State Football League (VSFL). Subsequently, the Victorian AFL clubs' under-19s competition was dissolved, and zone-based recruiting was abolished.
