Ben Gordon (born 7 October 1985) is a former Scottish footballer who played as a central defender. Career Gordon began his footballing career at St Mirren's Academy, but was released in 2004. Shortly after, he went to the University of Strathclyde and played for Strathclyde University FC, an amateur club. Scottish Football League Third Division
The Scottish Football League Third Division was the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system between 1994 and 2013. History The Scottish football league system had operated with three divisions in the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1975. In 1994, as part of reconstruction to allow the admission of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County to the league, the SFL was recalibrated to give four divisions of 10 teams. The fourth tier was named the Third Division. In 1998, the Premier Division (top flight) clubs broke away to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The Third Division continued as the fourth tier of the league system, but was now the third tier of the SFL. In 2013, the SFL and SPL merged to form the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). 2014–15 Scottish Championship
The 2014–15 Scottish Championship is the 20th season in the current format of 10 teams in the second tier of Scottish football. Heart of Midlothian won the title on 22 March 2015 and secured their return to the Scottish Premiership with a record seven matches remaining, after Rangers defeated city rivals Hibernian 2–0. This marked the first time since the 1984-85 season that a side in the same division as an Old Firm club won a league title in Scotland. The 2012–13 Scottish Football League First Division, also known as the 2012–13 Irn Bru Scottish Football League First Division for sponsorship reasons, was the 18th season of the Scottish Football League First Division and the 107th season of a second-tier football league in Scotland. Partick Thistle were confirmed as 2012–13 champions, on 20 April following their 2-0 win over Falkirk. This was the final season of the First Division under its then format, as it was replaced by the Scottish Championship from the 2013–14 season onwards.
