Ben Cook (speedway Rider)
Benjamin Cook (born 27 October 1997) is a speedway rider from Australia. Speedway career Cook, placed fifth in the FIM Oceania Championship before signing for Poole Pirates during the SGB Championship 2020 season. However the season was cancelled but he retained his place for the SGB Championship 2021 season, which resulted in a highly successful season for the Pirates as they won the league and Knockout Cup double. In 2022, he rode for the Poole Pirates again in the SGB Championship 2022. His form improved significantly and he was instrumental in helping Poole retain their League and knockout cup double crown. In 2023, he re-signed for Poole for the SGB Championship 2023 and signed for Peterborough Panthers for the SGB Premiership 2023. SGB Championship 2023
The 2023 SGB Cab Direct Championship season will be the 76th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Championship. The British Speedway Network (BSN) would stream 35 matches live for the second year running. Summary Nine clubs will compete in the Championship in 2023, with Edinburgh Monarchs remaining in the league despite problems surrounding their home venue. The only change to the league is Leicester Lions, who left for the higher league of the SGB Premiership 2023. The league format will be the same as in 2022, with each team racing against each other twice (home and away), meaning a total of 16 fixtures each during the season. The points system has been revamped and simplified, with teams scoring two points for a win (home or away), with a bonus point scored for an aggregate win. SGB Premiership 2023
The 2023 Sports Insure SGB Premiership is the 88th season of the top tier of British speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Premiership. There was an increase of one team after the Leicester Lions opted to move up from the SGB Championship. 2023 summary Seven clubs will compete for the league championship, with Leicester Lions joining the from the division below. Each club will race against each other four times (home and away twice), meaning a total of 24 fixtures each. The 'Super Heat' scoring system was retained from the 2022 season, however extra points for away fixtures have been scrapped in favour of an aggregate bonus point. The top four teams in the league will qualify for the playoffs, with the two semi-final winners then reaching the Grand Final. The points limit remains 39 points for six riders, with one additional 'rising star'. SGB Championship 2022
The 2022 SGB Championship season is the 75th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 5th known as the SGB Championship. Summary Eleven clubs competed in the Championship in 2022, with Oxford returning to the sport after a 15 year absence. The Eastbourne Eagles and the Kent Kings did not compete in the 2022 edition, with the Kings riding in the National Development League as The Royals, and Eastbourne not riding at all. Alongside the league and Knockout Cup, a new Summer competition was added in form of a group stage before a three team final at Sheffield. The tournament was called 'The Championship Jubilee League' which was eventually suspended until the 2023 season. However the additional fixtures created an issue due to the suspension of fixtures during the Death and state funeral of Elizabeth II and the heavy rain during October. SGB Championship 2021
The SGB Championship 2021 was the second tier division, called the SGB Championship, of the British speedway championship in 2021. Changes from the last edition of the Championship (held in 2019) were the addition of three teams and the loss of two teams. The 2019 Premiership club Poole Pirates, were the biggest profile club to join the league after dropping down from the highest league. Also the Kent Kings and Plymouth Gladiators both joined the league from the National Development League. Sheffield Tigers left the league to move up to the highest division and Somerset Rebels withdrew from the league altogether. The league started on 21 May with twelve teams participating and race meetings were covered by Eurosport.
