Ben Chasny
Ben Chasny is an American indie rock and psychedelic folk guitarist. His primary projects are Six Organs of Admittance (his solo psych folk project) and Comets on Fire (a psychedelic rock band). Biography Chasny made his recording debut in 1996 with his heavy, free rock project Plague Lounge on ''The Wicker Image'', an LP released conjointly between the New World of Sound and Holy Mountain labels. Holy Mountain went on to become the "home" of many of his releases under the Six Organs of Admittance moniker. He has also released an album with Hiroyuki Usui under the name August Born. Chasny has lent his talents to other projects such as Badgerlore, Double Leopards, Current 93, Magik Markers, and a duo with Dredd Foole, both in live performance and studio albums. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Current 93
Current 93 are an English experimental music group, working since the early 1980s in folk-based musical forms. The band was founded in 1982 by David Tibet, who has been Current 93's only constant member. Background Tibet has been the only constant member in the group, though Steven Stapleton (of Nurse with Wound) has appeared on nearly every Current 93 release. Michael Cashmore has also been a constant contributor since '' Thunder Perfect Mind''. Richard Bishop (guitarist)
Richard Bishop is an American composer, guitarist and singer best known for his work with the Sun City Girls. He styles himself Sir Richard Bishop. In 2005, Bishop began performing as a solo artist, playing throughout Europe, Australia, and the United States. He has done extensive touring with Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy), Animal Collective, Devendra Banhart, Bill Callahan, and many others. Bishop’s first official solo record, ''Salvador Kali'', was released by John Fahey’s esteemed Revenant Records label in 1998. The album showcases Bishop's own particular obsessions and roots, drawing from a variety of worldwide sources. Locust Music issued his second record, ''Improvika,'' in 2004. Magik Markers
The Magik Markers are an American noise rock band from Hartford, Connecticut, United States. The members, Elisa Ambrogio, Pete Nolan and Leah Quimby started the band in their basement in 2001. The band gained wider recognition after opening for Sonic Youth on their American tour in 2004. Their debut album, ''I Trust My Guitar, Etc...'' (released in vinyl only), was released in 2005 on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label. In 2006, they released ''A Panegyric To The Things I Do Not Understand'' under Gulcher Records, the Markers' first proper CD. Hiroyuki Usui
is a former Japanese football player and manager. He played for Japan national team. His son Kempei Usui is also a footballer. Club career Usui was born in Fujieda on August 4, 1953. After graduating from Waseda University, he joined Hitachi in 1976. The club won 1976 JSL Cup. He became a top scorer and was selected Best Eleven in 1980 and 1982. He retired in 1988. He played 200 games and scored 85 goals in the Division 1. National team career On February 12, 1974, Usui debuted for Japan national team against Singapore. In 1977, he was selected Japan for 1978 World Cup qualification. He also played at 1978 Asian Games. Although he was not selected Japan after 1980 Summer Olympics qualification, he was selected in 1984 and played at 1984 Summer Olympics qualification. This qualification was his last game for Japan. Psychedelic Folk
Psychedelic folk (sometimes acid folk or freak folk) is a loosely defined form of psychedelia that originated in the 1960s. It retains the largely acoustic instrumentation of folk, but adds musical elements common to psychedelic music. Characteristics Psychedelic folk generally favors acoustic instrumentation although it often incorporates other instrumentation. Chanting, early music and various non-Western folk music influences are often found in psych folk.
