Bely Gorodok
Bely Gorodok (russian: Бе́лый Городо́к) is an urban-type settlement in Kimrsky District of Tver Oblast, Russia. It is located on the right bank of the Volga River, at the confluence of the Khotcha River. Population: History Bely Gorodok was first mentioned in the end of the 14th century (1366 and 1375 are commonly cited). At the time, it belonged to Principality of Tver, and later, together with the principality, was annexed by the Grand Duchy of Moscow. In the 18th century, it was included into the Moscow Governorate. In 1775 it was then transferred to the newly established Tver Viceroyalty and became a part of Kalyazinsky Uyezd. In 1796, the Viceroyalty was abolished and transformed into the Tver Governorate. On December 30, 1918, Kimrsky Uyezd, with its center in Kimry, was established, and Bely Gorodok was included into Kimrsky Uyezd. Tver Oblast
Tver Oblast (russian: Тверска́я о́бласть, ''Tverskaya oblast'', ), from 1935 to 1990 known as Kalinin Oblast (), is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). Its administrative center is the city of Tver. It was named after Mikhail Kalinin, the Soviet revolutionary. Population: 1,353,392 ( 2010 Census). Tver Oblast is a region of lakes, such as Seliger and Brosno. Much of the remaining area is occupied by the Valdai Hills, where the Volga, the Western Dvina, and the Dnieper have their source. Tver Governorate (russian: Тверская губерния, ''Tverskaya guberniya'') was an administrative division (a ''guberniya'') of the Russian Empire and Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic, Russian SFSR, which existed from 1796 until 1929. Its seat was in Tver. Taldom (russian: Та́лдом) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located north of Moscow, on a suburban railway connecting Moscow to Savyolovo. Kalyazin (russian: Каля́зин) is a town and the administrative center of Kalyazinsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Volga River, northeast of Tver, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: History A ''sloboda'' (a settlement for people relieved from paying taxes) appeared on the site of modern Kalyazin in the 12th century. Its importance grew significantly with the foundation of the Makaryevsky Monastery on the opposite bank of the Volga in the 15th century. This abbey used to be the most conspicuous landmark of Kalyazin and comprised numerous buildings of historic interest, including a refectory from 1525. Kimry (russian: Ки́мры), formerly Kimra (), is a town in the south of Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the Volga River at its confluence with the Kimrka River, to the east of Tver. Population: History The town was known as Kimra until the beginning of the 20th century; the name is probably of Finnic or Baltic origin. It was first mentioned in 1546 as a selo belonging to Ivan the Terrible. It belonged to Russian Tsars until 1677 and then was given to the Saltykov family. In 1847, the inhabitants bought themselves out, and Kimra quickly developed into a busy shoemaking and trading village on the left bank of the Volga (a boot appears on the town's coat of arms).
