Charles Belson
Colonel Sir Charles Philip Belson (1773 – 5 November 1830) was a British Army officer who served during the Peninsular War and the Waterloo Campaign. Career Belson joined the army in 1794 as an ensign in the 13th Regiment of Foot and thereafter graduated to the 6th West India Regiment, 9th Regiment of Foot and the 7th Light Dragoons. He joined the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot in the Peninsular War and for his service received the Gold Medal and two clasps. After the Battle of Quatre Bras he succeeded to the command of the 8th Brigade and at Waterloo he commanded the 28th when he had two horses killed under him and two wounded. Frederick Belson
Frederick Charles Belson (13 February 1874 – 10 August 1952) was an English international rugby union forward who played club rugby for Clifton and Bath, and county rugby for Somerset. Belson played international rugby for the British Isles on their 1899 tour of Australia. Personal life Belson was born in Ramsgate in Kent in 1874 to Berkley George A. Belson, a retired Royal Navy Commander originally from Woolwich and Sarah Belson from New South Wales, Australia. Jordan Belson (June 6, 1926 – September 6, 2011) was an American artist and abstract cinematic filmmaker who created nonobjective, often spiritually oriented, abstract films spanning six decades. Biography Belson was born in Chicago, Illinois. Belson studied painting at the University of California, Berkeley. He saw the "Art in Cinema" screenings at the San Francisco Museum of Art beginning in 1946. The films screened at this series inspired Harry Smith, Belson and others to produce abstract films. Kristine Belson is a film producer and the president of Sony Pictures Animation. Belson's mother was a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and her father, Jerry Belson, was a comedy writer for television and film. Belson graduated from Trinity College in 1986. Thomas Belson (c. 1563 - 5 July 1589) was an English Roman Catholic layman and martyr, beatified in 1987. Life Belson was born at Brill in Buckinghamshire, although the date is uncertain. He was the son of Augustine Belson. He studied at St Mary's Hall, Oxford, part of Oriel College, but did not take the B. A.; and then at the Catholic seminary in Reims. In 1584 he returned to England and was arrested, and imprisoned in the Tower of London. Eventually, in 1586, he was banished. Belsonic
Belsonic is an annual outdoor music festival held in Belfast during the month of June. The festival, organised by Shine Productions, started in 2008, and when it began was held in Custom House Square in August. The festival later moved to Ormeau Park, and now happens in June, taking place over several weeks. The festival has hosted international acts including Lizzo, Lionel Richie, Shania Twain, Sting, and Blondie. History The Belsonic music festival originally took place during the month of August at the Custom House Square in Belfast, Northern Ireland, starting in 2008. It is organised by Shine Productions Ltd. The capacity of the event was 15,000 as of 2019. As of 2022, Belsonic is held in Ormeau Park.
