Belmond Villa Sant’Andrea is a hotel on Sicily's Bay of Mazzaro. It was built in the late 1800s as a private villa by an Englishman called Robert Trewhella. The hotel was purchased in 2010 by Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. which in March 2014 changed its name to Belmond Ltd. Belmond Ltd. (formerly Orient-Express Hotels Ltd) is a hospitality and leisure company that operates luxury hotels, train services and river cruises worldwide. In 2015, the company had 35 deluxe hotels, 7 tourist trains, 3 river cruises and rest ... At that time Villa Sant'Andrea was renamed Belmond Villa Sant'Andrea. Фугикл Origins Robert Trewhella II was born in Cornwall, in the parish of Ludgvan (3 miles north-east of Penzance) and was christened there on 30 May 1830. He was a son of Robert Trewheela I (1792/6-1846) of Cockwells in the parish of Ludgvan, a miner and farmer, by his first wife Mary Repper (d.1831), whom he married in 1815 at Ludgvan. Little is recorded regarding the history of the Trewhella family. The historic estate of "Trewhella" (today "Trewhella Farm") is situated in the parish of St Hilary, 3 miles east of Ludgvan, in an area containing many former mines, most notably Wheal Fortune. Belmond Ltd. (formerly Orient-Express Hotels Ltd) is a hospitality and leisure company that operates luxury hotels, train services and river cruises worldwide. In 2015, the company had 35 deluxe hotels, 7 tourist trains, 3 river cruises and restaurants in 22 countries. History The company was founded in 1976 by the American entrepreneur James Sherwood with the acquisition of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice from the Guinness family for £900,000. James Sherwood then bought a number of historic rail cars similar to (but likely separate from) those used on the original Orient Express train, which he restored and used to offer rides from Paris and London to his hotel in Venice to wealthy clients,thus the former name of the company.
