Bello Dan Maliki (1887 – 1926) was the 8th Etsu Nupe ''King of Nupe'' from 1916 to 1926. Usman Zaki Dan Dendo (1790–1859) was the first Etsu Nupe, the traditional ruler of the Nupe Kingdom. History Usman Zaki was the first son of Islamic preacher Malam Dendo, a Fulani man from Gwandu who was sent from Sokoto, Nigeria to introduce Islam into the Nupe Kingdom. Musa Bello
Musa Bello (b. 1919–1975) was the 11th Etsu Nupe in Nupe kingdom reigns from 1967 to his death in 1975 and was succeeded by the 12th Etsu Nupe Umaru Sanda Ndayako. Background his father was the seventh Etsu Nupe Bello Maliki. He had his entire education in Bida Emirate and later he became the head district of Badeggi in 1965 and Katcha before then he worked at Kaduna contractor company. The Bida Emirate is a traditional state in Nigeria, a successor to the old Nupe Kingdom, with its headquarters in Bida, Niger State. The head of the state is the Etsu Nupe, considered the leader of the Nupe people. History The old Nupe Kingdom was established in the middle of the 15th century in a basin between the Niger and Kaduna rivers in what is now central Nigeria. Early history is mostly based on verbally-transmitted legends. King Jibiri, who reigned around 1770, was the first Nupe king to become Muslim. Nupe People
The Nupe (traditionally called the ''Nupawa'' by the Hausas and ''Tapa'' by the neighbouring Yoruba) are an ethnic group native to the Middle Belt of Nigeria. They are the dominant ethnic group in Niger State and a minority in Kwara State. The Nupe are also present in Kogi State and The Federal Capital Territory. History The Nupe trace their origin to Tsoede who fled the court of Idah and established a loose confederation of towns along the Niger in the 15th century. The proximity of Nupe to the Yoruba Igbomina people in the south and to the Yoruba Oyo people in the southwest led to cross-fertilization of cultural influences through trade and conflicts over the centuries.
