Santuari De Bellmunt
The Santuari de Bellmunt ('Sanctuary of Bellmunt') is a sanctuary in the municipality of Sant Pere de Torelló (Osona), which is located on top of the Bellmunt (Sant Pere de Torelló), Serra of Bellmunt at 1246 m altitude. There is a viewpoint from where visitors can see the plain of Vic, the Pyrénées, the Ges Valley, and Bisaura. Along the sanctuary is a refuge and a restaurant, all built on the rock. It can be accessed on foot or by car from Sant Pere de Torelló, and from Vidrà only on foot. The image of the ''Lady'' of Bellmunt is a 22 cm painted statue of Alabaster. Osona () is a comarca situated in Catalonia, Northeast Spain. Its capital is Vic. Its population in 2001 was 129,543. Osona covers roughly the same area as the historic Catalan county of Osona. The name Osona comes from ''Ausetans'', a group of Iberian people who had their capital in ''Ausa'' (today Vic); the Romans called the area ''Ausone'' or ''Ausona''. While most of the ''comarca'' is within the province of Barcelona, the municipalities of Espinelves, Vidrà and Viladrau form part of the province of Girona. The Sub-Pyrenees ( ca, Subpirineu) are a mountainous region in Catalonia, Spain, forming a section of the southern foothills of the Pyrenees. They are located at the eastern end of the Pre-Pyrenees, west of the Catalan Transversal Range, between the lower Ripollès and an area of the high Garrotxa. Description The Sub-Pyrenees consist of a series of parallel mountain ranges aligned in an east-west direction. Their shape is smooth and they are mostly covered with forest. They are cut transversally by the Ter River, between the Sant Amand (1,851 m) anticline and Bellmunt (Sant Pere de Torelló), Bellmunt (1,515 m), the mountain massif rising over the Plain of Vic. The Plain of Vic (Catalan ''Plana de Vic'') is a 30 km long depression located at the eastern end of the Catalan Central Depression in the Osona comarca. It is named after the town of Vic, an important and ancient urban center in this natural region that lies in the midst of the plain. Other significant towns in the plain are Manlleu and Tona. This natural depression carved by river Ter and its tributaries is longer than it is wide and stretches in a N / S direction.
