Bellator MMA (formerly Bellator Fighting Championships) is an American mixed martial arts promotion (entertainment), promotion founded in 2008 and based in Santa Monica, California, owned and operated as a subsidiary of television and media conglomerate Paramount Global. It is the second largest in the United States and one of the largest combat sports, combat sport promotions in the world. The promotion takes its name from ''wikt:bellator, bellātor'', the Latin word for "warrior". Rob Whiteford
Robert Whiteford (born 12 April 1983) is a Scottish mixed martial artist who is currently signed to Bellator MMA having spent a period of time in limbo due to contractual issues with ACB. Whiteford competed in Featherweight division of Absolute Championship Berkut. A professional competitor since 2009, he formerly competed for the UFC, and was the first Scottish fighter to be signed by the promotion. Career Whiteford has a strong background in judo and Muay Thai, he first began fighting for team "Hostile Territory" based out of "The Dojo" gym in Alloa. The Bellator MMA rankings, which was introduced in March 2021, is generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members are asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the Bellator MMA by weight class and pound-for-pound. Leah McCourt (born 21 June 1992) is a Northern Irish professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Featherweight division of Bellator MMA. She is a former IMMAF World and European Amateur champion and International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation gold medalist. She is also a black belt in Judo.
