Bella (EP)
Fivespeed was an American rock band, formed in Peoria, Arizona, United States, in 1997, and later based in Phoenix, Arizona. While in the beginning, Fivespeed's style was greatly influenced by the punk and hard-core movements,Garcia, Gilbert ''Speed Kills'', The Phoenix New Times, Jan. 17, 2002retrieved 01-09-12 its later efforts could be described as a mixture of nu metal and mainstream rock. History The Early Years Fivespeed released their self-titled debut Extended play, EP, which also became known as ''First of The Compact Cars'', on what was then a brand new independent record label called Sunset Alliance Records, on May 22, 2001. Their label soon changed ownership, but that was all to Fivespeed's benefit, since the new owner, Dave Jensen, was one of their biggest fans. Jensen believed greatly in the band, and gambled big on their success, even mortgaging his house to help pay for the recording of their debut full-length. The band worked for five months with Larry Elyea at M ...

Recording Contract
A recording contract (commonly called a record contract or record deal) is a legal agreement between a record label and a recording artist (or group), where the artist makes a record (or series of records) for the label to sell and promote. Artists under contract are normally only allowed to record for that label exclusively; guest appearances on other artists' records will carry a notice "By courtesy of (the name of the label)", and that label may receive a percentage of sales. Copyrights, payment and royalties Labels typically own the copyright in the records their artists make, and also the master copies of those records. An exception is when a label makes a distribution deal with an artist; in this case, the artist, their manager, or another party may own the copyright (and masters), while the record is licensed exclusively to the label for a set period of time. Promotion is a key factor in the success of a record, and is largely the label's responsibility, as is proper distri ...

A Modified Document
A, or a, is the first letter and the first vowel of the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. Its name in English is ''a'' (pronounced ), plural ''aes''. It is similar in shape to the Ancient Greek letter alpha, from which it derives. The uppercase version consists of the two slanting sides of a triangle, crossed in the middle by a horizontal bar. The lowercase version can be written in two forms: the double-storey a and single-storey ɑ. The latter is commonly used in handwriting and fonts based on it, especially fonts intended to be read by children, and is also found in italic type. In English grammar, " a", and its variant " an", are indefinite articles. History The earliest certain ancestor of "A" is aleph (also written 'aleph), the first letter of the Phoenician alphabet, which consisted entirely of consonants (for that reason, it is also called an abjad to distinguish ...

An Ocean Of Doubt
''An Ocean of Doubt'' is the fourth installment in ''The Emo Diaries'' series of compilation albums, released September 28, 1999, by Deep Elm Records. As with all installments in the series, the label had an open submissions policy for bands to submit material for the compilation, and as a result the music does not all fit within the emo style. As with the rest of the series, ''An Ocean of Doubt'' features mostly unsigned bands contributing songs that were previously unreleased. Notably, it features the first song released by Further Seems Forever. Reviewer Heather Phares of Allmusic remarks that "the album catalogs emo's increasingly diverse sounds" and that it "reaffirm Deep Elm's status as one of the best emo labels around." The Emo Diaries
''The Emo Diaries'' is a series of twelve compilation albums released by Deep Elm Records between 1997 and 2011. The series had an open submissions policy and featured mostly acts that were unsigned at the time of the albums' releases. Deep Elm founder John Szuch claims that the original name for the series was intended to be ''The Indie Rock Diaries'', but this was ruled out by the fact that the first volume included Jimmy Eat World and Samiam, who were both signed to major record labels. ''The Emo Diaries'' was chosen because ''The Emotional Diaries'' was too long to fit on the album cover. Despite the title, the bands featured in the series have a diversity of sounds that do not all necessarily fit into the emo style of rock music.Greenwald, pp. 118-119. Andy Greenwald, in his book '' Nothing Feels Good: Punk Rock, Teenagers, and Emo'', claims that the series "stake a claim for emo as more a shared aesthetic than a genre": e bands included hail from all over the world, and the m ...

Equal Vision
Equal Vision Records is an independent record label based in Albany, New York. It was founded in the early 1990s by Ray Cappo, singer for the punk bands Youth of Today, Shelter, and Better Than a Thousand. The label originally existed solely to distribute Shelter and other Krishna releases. In 1992, label manager Steve Reddy bought Equal Vision from Cappo. The focus was expanded and a wider variety of bands were brought on board. According to ''Punk News'', the mid-to-late '90s saw a redoubling of the Equal Vision's hardcore efforts with such signings as One King Down and Ten Yard Fight. By the end of the '90s Equal Vision Records (EVR) had a stable of hardcore and punk bands, having added Bane, Trial, Converge and Saves the Day to its roster in the latter part of the decade. Sublabels and distribution In July 2009 EVR created a sub-label named Mantralogy. This sub-label will feature bands that "deliver edgy, Krishna-conscious music." In 2012 EVR artist Max Bemis (of ''Say Anyt ...
