Bell Shakespeare Company
Bell Shakespeare is an Australian theatre company specialising in the works of William Shakespeare, his contemporaries and other classics. It is based in Sydney. The Bell Shakespeare vision is to create theatre that allows audiences of all walks of life to see themselves reflected and transformed through the prism of great writing. They are Australia's only national theatre company. Each year they perform a Mainstage season consisting of three theatre productions, including an annual National Tour, and a Learning program to support students, teachers and communities nationally. Bell Shakespeare's Artistic Director is Peter Evans and the Executive Director is Gill Perkins. William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare ( 26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the " Bard of Avon" (or simply "the Bard"). Anne-Louise Sarks
Anne-Louise Sarks is an Australian theatre director, writer and actor. She has been the Artistic Director of the Melbourne Theatre Company since October 2021. Her partner is journalist Sean Kelly. Career Studies and early work Sarks studied acting at the Victorian College of the Arts. She began a professional acting career, appearing in plays for Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse Theatre and Belvoir, before beginning to direct. Adena Jacobs
Adena Jacobs (born June 1982) is an Australian theatre director. She has worked in Australian independent theatre with her company, Fraught Outfit, of which she is artistic director, and has also directed for various mainstage companies. She was "Female Director-in-Residence" at Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne in 2012, and in 2014–15 was Resident Director at Belvoir, Sydney. Zindzi Okenyo is a television and theatre actress, and musician from Sydney. A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), she is a presenter on '' Play School'', and performs music professionally under the stage name Okenyo. She is best known for the song "Woman's World", from her debut EP album, ''The Wave''. The Misanthrope
''The Misanthrope, or the Cantankerous Lover'' (french: Le Misanthrope ou l'Atrabilaire amoureux; ) is a 17th-century comedy of manners in verse written by Molière. It was first performed on 4 June 1666 at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal, Paris by the King's Players. The play satirizes the hypocrisies of French aristocratic society, but it also engages a more serious tone when pointing out the flaws that afflict all humans. Catherine McClements is an Australian stage, film and television actress and television presenter.
