Belgian Road Cycling Cup
The Belgian Road Cycling Cup (also known as Lotto Cycling Cup after its sponsor) is a road bicycle racing competition established in 2016 and consists of a number of standalone one-day races, mostly in Belgium but since 2022 some are held as well in the Netherlands. In each race, the top 15 riders score points and the rider scoring the most points in total is crowned the Belgian Cycling Cup champion. A separate classification was kept for the best youngster and best team, but these have been cancelled since 2017 and 2018 respectively. The lead sponsor changed regularly throughout the years, causing the official name to change often as well: from 2016 to 2018 it was known as the ''Napoleon Games Cycling Cup'', from 2019 to 2021 as the ''Bingoal Cycling Cup'', in 2022 as the ''Exterioo Cycling Cup'', and since 2023 as the Lotto Cycling Cup. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on Road surface, paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional sport, professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators. The two most common competition formats are mass start events, where riders start simultaneously (though sometimes with a Handicapping, handicap) and race to a set finish point; and time trials, where individual time trial, individual riders or team time trial, teams race a course alone against the clock. 2022 Belgian Road Cycling Cup
The 2022 Belgian Road Cycling Cup (known as the Exterioo Cycling Cup for sponsorship reasons) is the seventh edition of the Belgian Road Cycling Cup. With the inclusion of the Dutch races Ronde van Drenthe and Veenendaal–Veenendaal, this marks the first season in which the Belgian Road Cycling Cup includes races outside of Belgium. With respect to the previous season, the Grote Prijs Jef Scherens, Halle–Ingooigem, the Schaal Sels, and the Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen were removed, the last three of which were not held in 2021 for various reasons, resulting in the 2021 season only having eight races. These four races were replaced with the Ronde van Drenthe, the Veenendaal–Veenendaal Classic, the Elfstedenronde, and the Circuit Franco–Belge to keep the total number of races at eleven, all of which are also part of the 2022 UCI Europe Tour. Fabio Jakobsen
Fabio Jakobsen (born 31 August 1996) is a Dutch cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career During the 2019 Vuelta a España Jakobsen won two stages, including the final stage of the race on stage 21 in Madrid. A few metres before the finish of the 1st stage in the 2020 Tour de Pologne he heavily crashed after Dylan Groenewegen deviated from his line, forcing Jakobsen into the barriers. The race doctor initially reported that Jakobsen had suffered several major injuries, including serious brain trauma and damage to the upper respiratory tract, a broken palate, and heavy blood loss, and was in life-threatening condition. On 7 August 2020, the race organisers announced that Jakobsen was out of the induced coma and in "good condition". On 18 August 2020, Jakobsen said that he was "glad to be alive" following the crash. Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen
Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen (previously GP Rik Van Steenbergen) is a single-day road bicycle race held annually in September in Arendonk, Belgium. The race, paying respect to the famous Belgian rider of the 1940s and 1950s, quickly gained importance and since 2005, it is a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race was canceled in 2013 and again in 2014 because the organizers were unable to raise sufficient funding and subsequently disappeared permanently from the calendar before being revived for 2019. In contrary to the previous editions, the race will now be held in Arendonk where before it was held in Aartselaar. Arnhem–Veenendaal Classic
The Arnhem–Veenendaal Classic (known as Veenendaal–Veenendaal from 1985 until 2006 and The Dutch Food Valley Classic from 2007 until 2013) is a semi classic professional road cycling race in the Netherlands starting and finishing in the town of Veenendaal. The event is part of the UCI Europe Tour calendar of events with a ranking of 1.1. Route The race has a course on winding roads through the two Veluwe national parks, Hoge Veluwe National Park and Veluwezoom National Park, and the Nederrijn river valley in the south east corner of Utrecht province over a distance of roughly 209 km, interspersed with little steep cobbled climbs, the most significant of which are the Grebbeberg and the Posbank in Rhenen, and the Emma Pyramid in Rozendaal. He has won five individual Tour de France stages and one team time trial stage.
