Belfountain is a community located within the borders of the town of Caledon, Ontario, Caledon, in Regional Municipality of Peel, Peel Region, Ontario, Canada. Geography Belfountain is situated on the left branch of the Credit River, and is geographically located occidental within the borders of Caledon, east of the town of Erin, Ontario, Erin. It is also located approximately 50 kilometers north of the city of Brampton. The Caledon Ski Club is located north of the main centre of Belfountain. The Niagara Escarpment runs through the upper part of the village, and remains the base for the Credit Valley Conservation, Belfountain Conservation Area. History Belfountain was first settled in 1825. Originally named McCurdy's, the small village grew significantly throughout the late 19th century. Palgrave is a Compact Rural Community and unincorporated place in the Town of Caledon, Regional Municipality of Peel in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. It is about north of Bolton and about northwest of Toronto. Palgrave is located east of Orangeville, south of Alliston, west of Newmarket and north of Brampton. Geography Palgrave is situated on the Oak Ridges Moraine, a long ridge of hilly terrain created by retreating glaciers depositing large quantities of sand and gravel sediments. The moraine is a primary source for many river systems in this part of Southern Ontario. The nearby Palgrave Moraine intersects the Oak Ridges Moraine, and ultimately merges with it to the east, at the western boundary of King Township. The Humber River flows west of Palgrave. Alloa is a semi-rural hamlet located on the boundary of the City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon in Ontario, Canada. It is within the Regional Municipality of Peel. Geography Alloa is situated at the corner of Creditview and Mayfield Roads. The larger communities of Snelgrove and Mayfield West are located east of the hamlet; with the former part of Brampton, and the latter Caledon. To the south lies the Brampton neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant. As of early 2024, the Brampton side is now mostly urbanized. The community contains the Alloa Public School. Caledon East is an unincorporated community located within the Town of Caledon, Ontario, Canada, within the Regional Municipality of Peel. It has a population of 5 575. Geography Caledon East is located in Ward 3 of Caledon. The area is surrounded by wetlands and marshes, and is home to small rivers and lakes. It is located northwest of Bolton. History The community was first settled in 1821. In 1877, a train station was built in the village part of the northern railway of Canada. By the next few years, five trains stopped daily at the station. Due to unknown reasons, the station was relocated in 1903. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is one of 36 conservation authorities in Ontario, Canada, responsible for protecting, restoring, and managing natural resources at the watershed level. CVC operates within the Credit River watershed and smaller adjacent watersheds that drain directly into Lake Ontario, as well as along a section of the Lake Ontario shoreline. Together, these areas make up CVC's jurisdiction. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
