Belarus Women's National Ice Hockey Team
The Belarusian women's national ice hockey team ( be, Жаночая зборная Беларусі па хакеі з шайбай; russian: Женская сборная Беларуси по хоккею с шайбой) is the national women's ice hockey team that represents Belarus. The team is controlled by the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association. History The Belarus women's national team played its first unofficial game in Raubichi on 6 January 2023, against the 'Piranha' club of boys born in 2011, which it won 4–1. National team players were between 10 and 25 years old. Its second game was in Minsk against the 'Armada' amateur men's team on 21 May 2023, which it lost 7–9. The team's head coach in this game was Lidia Malyavko. In October 2023, the first edition of the Belarus Women's Hockey League was started. Belarusian Ice Hockey Association
The Belarusian Ice Hockey Association ( be, Федэрацыя хакея Рэспублікі Беларусь, russian: Федерация хоккея Республики Беларусь) is the governing body of ice hockey in Belarus. It was founded on 6 March 1992 and became a member of the IIHF on 2 May 1992. The Belarusian Ice Hockey Association hosted the 2014 IIHF World Championship, and was planned to co-host the 2021 IIHF World Championship. Because of "safety and security issues," the International Ice Hockey Federation decided that the 2021 World Championship would not be played in Belarus. Since 9 September 2020, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association has been headed by Dzmitry Baskau who is accused of being involved in the killing of protester Raman Bandarenka. Lidia Alexandrovna Malyavko (russian: Лидия Александровна Малявко, translit=Lidiya Aleksandrovna Malyavko) or Lidziya Aliaxandravna Maliavka ( be, Лідзія Аляксандраўна Маляўка, translit=Lidzija Aliaksandraŭna Maliaŭka; born 23 January 1995) is a Belarusian-Russian ice hockey player, currently playing in the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) with Tornado Dmitrov. IIHF Women's World Championships
The IIHF World Women's Championship (WW or WWC), officially the IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship, is the premier international tournament in women's ice hockey. It is governed by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The official world competition was first held in 1990, with four more championships held in the 90s. From 1989 to 1996, and in years that there was no world tournament held, there were European Championships and in 1995 and 1996 a Pacific Rim Championship. From the first Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Tournament in 1998 onward, the Olympic tournament was played instead of the IIHF Championships. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL).
