Bekir Büyükarkın
Bekir Büyükarkın (1921 – 7 August 1998) was a Turkish poet, novelist and playwright. He graduated from Istanbul Vefa High School in 1939 and from the Istanbul University School of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1942. Büyükarkın worked at Türk Ticaret Bankası as a freelance accountant. Known for his novels and plays, he also wrote two unpublished poetry books. His play, ''Dökmeci'', won the competition for stage plays organized by CHP in 1947. Ottoman Classical Music
Ottoman music ( tr, Osmanlı müziği) or Turkish classical music ( tr, Türk sanat müziği) is the tradition of classical music originating in the Ottoman Empire. Developed in the palace, major Ottoman cities, and Sufi lodges, it traditionally features a solo singer with a small to medium-sized instrumental ensemble. A tradition of music that reached its golden age around the early 18th century, Ottoman music traces its roots back to the music of the Hellenic and Persianate world, a distinctive feature of which is the usage of a modal melodic system. Turkish Makam Music
The Turkish makam ( Turkish: ''makam'' pl. ''makamlar''; from the Arabic word ) is a system of melody types used in Turkish classical music and Turkish folk music. It provides a complex set of rules for composing and performance. Each makam specifies a unique intervalic structure (''cinsler'' meaning genera) and melodic development (''seyir''). Whether a fixed composition (''beste'', ''şarkı'', ''peşrev'', ''âyin'', etc.) or a spontaneous composition (''gazel'', ''taksim'', recitation of ''Kuran-ı Kerim'', ''Mevlid'', etc.), all attempt to follow the melody type. Türk Ticaret Bankası A.Ş (TTB, en, Turkish Trade Bank), also known as Türkbank, was founded in 1913 in Adapazarı by private investors as a regional bank under the name of ''Adapazarı İslam Ticaret Bankası''. It was renamed ''Türk Ticaret Bankası A.Ş'' in 1937, and relocated its head office to Istanbul in 1952. Türkbank was taken over by the Turkish Treasury in 1994 after the bank was weakened by the Turkish financial crisis of the time. After a privatization scandal in the late 1990s, which caused the collapse of the government of Mesut Yılmaz, resulted in the planned privatization to fail, the bank went into liquidation on 9 August 2002.
