Ironi Beit Shemesh ( he, עירוני בית שמש) is an Israeli football club based in Beit Shemesh. The club is currently in Liga Bet South B division. History The club was founded after Hapoel Beit Shemesh, which in its prime played in the second tier of Israeli football, dissolved in 1994 due to financial difficulties. Up until the 2000–01 season, there were three football clubs operating in Beit Shemesh (Ironi, Maccabi and Beitar) which played in Liga Gimel, the lowest tier of Israeli football. However, due to financial reasons, a merger was created between the other football clubs from Beit Shemesh and Ironi Beit Shemesh. In the 2010–11 season, the club finished runners-up in Liga Gimel Central division and faced Hapoel Hod HaSharon in a promotion play-off. Ironi Beit Shemesh lost 0–1 and remained in Liga Gimel. Ahisamakh ( he, אֲחִיסָמָךְ, ''lit.'' Brother of Support) is a moshav in central Israel. Located in the Shephelah, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. Shmuel Kozokin ( he, שמואל קוזוקין; born 16 November 1987) is an Israeli former Association football, footballer. Kozokin was a Defender (association football), defender. He won a gold medal with Team Israel at the 2005 Maccabiah Games. Liga Bet ( he, ליגה ב', lit. ''League B'') is the fourth tier of the Israeli football league system. It is divided into four regional divisions. History League football started in Israel in 1949–50, a year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence. However, the financial and security crises gripping the young nation caused the 1950–51 season to be abandoned before it had started. When football resumed in 1951–52, the new top division went by the name of Liga Alef with Liga Bet as the second division. The 1952–53 season was also not played, and Liga Bet resumed in 1953–54. 2014–15 Liga Bet
The 2014–15 Liga Bet season saw Hapoel Kafr Kanna (champions of the North A division), Hapoel Baqa al-Gharbiyye (champions of the North B division), Hapoel Bik'at HaYarden (champions of the South A division) and Bnei Eilat (champions of the South B division) win the title and promotion to Liga Alef. The clubs ranked 2nd to 5th in each division entered a promotion play-off, at the end of which, Hapoel Iksal (from the North section) and Hapoel Kiryat Ono (from the South section) met the teams ranked 14th in Liga Alef. Hapoel Iksal won their tie and was promoted to Liga Alef as well, while Hapoel Kiryat Ono lost and remained in Liga Bet. At the bottom, Hapoel Ironi Bnei I'billin (from North A division) and Otzma F.C. Holon (from South A division) were automatically relegated to Liga Gimel. Football as an organised sport, first developed in the United Kingdom, who controlled Mandatory Palestine during the days of the British Mandate. The Israel Football Association joined the Asian Football Confederation in 1954, but was expelled in 1974 due to political pressure from Arab and Muslim members in the context of the Arab–Israeli conflict. Liga Gimel ( he, ליגה ג', lit. ''League C'') is the fifth and bottom division of Israeli Football League, a position it has held since 2009. From Liga Alef and downwards to this, each league is separated by region as well. History Liga Gimel was first established in 1951 as a third division, below Liga Alef and Liga Bet. In 1955, after designating the first tier as Liga Leumit, Liga Gimel was demoted to the fourth tier. Further demotions followed in 1976, after the second tier Liga Artzit to the fifth tier and in 1999, after the establishment of Liga Ha'Al to the sixth tier.
