Being Respectable
''Being Respectable'' is a 1924 American drama film directed by Phil Rosen and written by Dorothy Farnum. The film stars Marie Prevost, Monte Blue, Louise Fazenda, Irene Rich, Theodore von Eltz and Frank Currier. The film was released by Warner Bros. on July 1, 1924. Plot Charles Carpenter is obliged to marry Suzanne, with pressure from his wealthy and respectable family, although he is in love with young Valerie Winship. Years later, when Valerie is back in town, they renew the affair and Carpenter plans to leave his wife and child for her, but in the end he yields to family duty and respectability. Phil Rosen
Philip E. Rosen (May 8, 1888 – October 22, 1951) was an American film director and cinematographer. He directed more than 140 films between 1915 and 1949. He was born in Marienburg, German Empire (now, Malbork, Poland), grew up in Machias, Maine, and died in Hollywood, California of a heart attack. He was one of the founders of the American Society of Cinematographers. Rosen was married to model and actress Joyzelle Joyner. Sidney Bracey
Sidney Bracey (born Sidney Bracy; 18 December 1877 – 5 August 1942) was an Australian-born American actor. After a stage career in Australia, on Broadway and in Britain, he performed in more than 320 films between 1909 and 1942. Dorothy Farnum
Dorothy Farnum (10 June 1900 – 27 January 1970) was an American actress and screenwriter. She was noted for her work at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer during the silent era and later in Britain during the 1930s. Career Farnum was the daughter of actor William Farnum and niece of Dustin Farnum. She was educated in a convent boarding school. She mastered French history and literature, and became fluent in Spanish and German. She acted in two movies released in 1915, ''The Cub'' and ''Over Night'', but she became famous for writing plays and novels and then turning them into screenplays. Her most popular screenplays were ''The Temptress'' (1926), ''Sinner or Saint'' (1923), and ''Bardelys the Magnificent'' (1926). ''Beau Brummel'' (1924) was very successful too.
