Sebu Simonian (born October 15, 1978; hy, Սեպուհ Սիմոնեան) is an Armenian-American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, one-half of the Los Angeles-based indie pop duo Capital Cities. Early life Simonian was born in 1978 in Aleppo, Syria to Armenian-Lebanese parents, whose ancestors were survivors of the Armenian genocide. His paternal grandfather was from the region of Cilicia (in present-day Turkey's Çukurova region). Simonian's parents were from Beirut, Lebanon, but "because of a civil war ismum had to flee and ehappened to be born in Syria." Capital Cities is an American Pop music, pop duo from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2008 by Ryan Merchant (vocals, keyboard, guitar) and Sebu Simonian (vocals, keyboard).
