Behsudi or Behsud ( prs, بهسودی) are one of the major tribes of the Hazara people in Afghanistan. History The notable history of the Behsud tribe starts from the 19th-century when the 19th-century Behsud chieftain Mir Yazdan Bakhsh was one of the first Hazara chiefs, who tried in vain to unify all Hazaras. In the Hazara resistance against the Soviet Union and later the Taliban most of the modern Hazara political leadership has emerged from the Behsuds. Afghan leaders from the Behsud tribe include Sultan Ali Keshtmand, the Prime Minister of Afghanistan from 1981 to 1989. The Hazara people are an ethnic group who inhabit and originate from Hazarajat ( Hazaristan) region, located in central parts of Afghanistan and generally scattered throughout Afghanistan. However, there are significant populations of Hazaras in Pakistan and Iran, notably in Quetta, Pakistan and in Mashhad, Iran. Furthermore, many Afghan refugees are fleeing the conflict in Afghanistan who have in recent years settled in Iran and further bolstered the Hazara community in Pakistan. Hazara People
The Hazaras ( fa, , Həzārə; haz, , Āzərə) are an ethnic group and the principal component of the population of Afghanistan, native to, and primarily residing in the Hazaristan (Hazarajat) region in central Afghanistan and generally scattered throughout Afghanistan. Mir Yazdan Bakhsh
Mir Yazdanbakhsh () was a chieftain of the Behsud Hazaras in the Hazarajat of central Afghanistan in the 19th century. Son of Mir Wali Beg, he was born in 1790. He expelled his older brother, Mir Muhammad Shah after his father was assassinated by a minor chief. Sultan Ali Keshtmand
Sultan Ali Keshtmand ( fa, سلطان‌علی کشتمند; born May 22, 1935, in Kabul), sometimes transliterated Kishtmand, was an Afghan politician. He served twice as Chairman of the Council of Ministers during the 1980s, from 1981 to 1988 and from 1989 to 1990 in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. Early years Keshtmand was born in Kabul. Karim Khalili
Karim Khalili ( fa, کریم خلیلی) is an Afghan politician serving as leader of the Hezb-e Wahdat Islami Afghanistan party. Most recently he was Chief of the Afghan High Peace Council from 2017 until its dissolvement in 2019. He was selected as a candidate for Second Vice President of Afghanistan in 2002 by Hamid Karzai; they were elected in 2004 and left office in 2014. Rohullah Nikpai
Rohullah Nikpai ( prs, روح‌الله نیکپا; born June 15, 1987) is an ethnic Hazara taekwondo practitioner and two-time Olympic bronze medalist from Afghanistan. Career Nikpai started his training in Kabul, Afghanistan, at the age of 10. During the civil war over the capital city, his family left the city and settled in one of Iran's many Afghan refugee camps. He soon became a member of the Afghan refugee Taekwondo team after watching martial arts films. Hassan Poladi
Hassan Poladi (also referred to as Hassan Foladi) was the writer of '' The Hazaras'', a book about the Hazara people. Poladi was born in Quetta, as a second-generation Hazara. He grew up and got his early education from local schools and colleges, and did his BSc (Honors) from the University of Sind. He later got admission to the University of Philippines, Manila, and did his MA. After working for the provincial government of Balochistan, he moved to the USA on a research assistant fellowship. In 1975 he received his master's degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, New york. He was a naturalized American Citizen, and lived with his family in Stockton, California.
