Alice Behrens
Alice Muriel Gaddum (''née'' Behrens; 23 April 1885 – 28 June 1952)''England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966, 1973-1995'' was a British advocate of Girl Guiding and is remembered chiefly for her contribution to the training of adults in the movement. She was the first Guider-in-Charge at Foxlease and Head of Training. She was the daughter of Sir Charles Behrens and Emily, Lady Behrens. In 1913, Behrens was persuaded by Helen Malcolm to become the Commissioner for the Guides in Manchester and organise them. In October 1916, after the suggestion of Robert Baden-Powell, she organised the Matlock Conference. Commissioners from around Britain met to share ideas and encourage one another. Beginning in 1926, Behrens visited Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to promote Guiding. Sam Behrens (born Stanley Birnbaum; July 24, 1950) is an American actor, best known for his roles as Jake Meyer on the ABC daytime soap opera ''General Hospital'', Danny Waleska in the CBS prime time soap opera ''Knots Landing'' and as Gregory Richards in the NBC daytime soap opera, '' Sunset Beach''. Life and career Behrens was born Stanley Birnbaum to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York. He is of German ancestry on his paternal side. He has been married to Shari Belafonte since December 31, 1989. Behrens began his soap opera career on ABC's ''Ryan's Hope'', playing Dr. Adam Cohen from 1979 to 1980. Behrens (1994 – September 14, 2014) was an American Thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse. Out of the Mare (horse), mare Hot Novel, he was sired by the 1981 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, Pleasant Colony. Raced by William Clifton, Jr. and the Rudlein Stable of Donald and Anne Rudder, Behrens did not race until age three when he made a winning debut in January 1997 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. He did not race for another six months as a result of arthroscopic surgery for an ankle chip. On his return to competition, Behrens won again then in July at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, won the Dwyer Stakes. Walter-Ulrich Behrens (1902 – 24 August 1962) was a German chemist and statistician who co-discovered with Ronald Fisher the Behrens-Fisher problem and the associated Behrens-Fisher distribution. Born in Leipzig, Behrens studied natural sciences and chemistry at the University of Leipzig, and graduated with a doctorate in 1924. After a short period at the university's Institute of Physical Chemistry, he worked for several years at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Leipzig-Mockern. Henrik Enok Isidor Behrens (1868–1951) was the founder of the Swedish sports club Allmänna Idrottsklubben (AIK) and its first chairholder.
