It is derived from the Gaelic word beag, which means little, although some instances of the name derive from the English name 'Bigg'. Beggs, Oklahoma
Beggs is a city in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,321 at the 2010 census. Beggs was named for C.H. Beggs, vice president of the St. Louis-San Francisco (Frisco) Railway. History Starting as a Frisco railroad stop in 1899, Beggs officially became a town on September 15, 1900, when its post office opened.Davidson, Ruth"Beggs,"''Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History & Culture'', Oklahoma Historical Society. Fort Beggs
Fort Beggs was an impromptu fort used one week in May during the 1832 Black Hawk War. Word about Indian attacks and massacres from the frontier led the residents of Plainfield, Illinois to convert the house of Rev. Stephen R. Beggs into a makeshift fort. It was located in Plainfield, Illinois on the DuPage River and a monument was erected by the Will County Centennial Committee in 1936 to mark its location. Panic at Fort Beggs Rev. Beggs' cabin was converted to a fort on a Thursday when logs from Rev. Beggs' barn and shed were used for a makeshift breastwork around the cabin and the entire structure housed 125 individuals. Rev. Beggs later explained their dire situation if attacked: We had four guns, some useless for shooting purposes. Ammunition was scarce. Beggs Building
Fifth Third Center is a skyscraper on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was completed in 1998 and has 25 floors. Miller & Reeves designed the building, which is the 17th tallest in Columbus. The skyscraper was designed in a post-modern style. The building was constructed as an addition to the Beggs Building, an Art Deco highrise built in 1928.
