Time Loop
The time loop or temporal loop is a plot device in fiction whereby characters re-experience a span of time which is repeated, sometimes more than once, with some hope of breaking out of the cycle of repetition. The term "time loop" is sometimes used to refer to a causal loop; however, causal loops are unchanging and self-originating, whereas time loops are constantly resetting: when a certain condition is met, such as a death of a character or a clock reaching a certain time, the loop starts again, possibly with one or more characters retaining the memories from the previous loop. History An early example of a time loop is the 1915 Russian novel ''Strange Life of Ivan Osokin'', where the main character gets to live his life over again but struggles to change it the second time around. It was used in the short story "Doubled and Redoubled" by Malcolm Jameson that appeared in the February 1941 ''Unknown''; the story tells of a person accidentally cursed to repeat a "perfect" day, inc ...

Sisyphus
In Greek mythology, Sisyphus or Sisyphos (; Ancient Greek: Σίσυφος ''Sísyphos'') was the founder and king of Ancient Corinth, Ephyra (now known as Corinth). Hades punished him for cheating death twice by forcing him to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity. Through the classicism, classical influence on modern culture, tasks that are both wikt:laborious#Adjective, laborious and wikt:futile#Adjective, futile are therefore described as Sisyphean (). Etymology Robert S. P. Beekes, R. S. P. Beekes has suggested a pre-Greek origin and a connection with the root of the word ' (σοφός, "wise"). German mythographer Otto Gruppe thought that the name derived from ' (σίσυς, "a goat's skin"), in reference to a rain-charm in which goats' skins were used. Family Sisyphus was formerly a Ancient Thessaly, Thessalian prince as the son of King Aeolus (son of Hellen), Aeolus of Aeolia and Ena ...

Queen Bee (sociology)
A queen bee is the leader of a female group, such as a clique. The term has been applied in several social settings. Businesses In a business environment, "queen bee" may refer to women who are emotionally immature and view other, especially younger, women as competition. They often will refuse to help other women advance within a company by, for example, preferring to mentor a male over a female employee. Some such "queen bees" may actively take steps to hinder another woman's advancement as they are seen as direct competitors. Such tactics are sometimes referred to as heterophily (in the sense of positive preference and favoritism for opposite-sex colleagues) or the queen bee syndrome. The term "loophole woman", coined by Caroline Bird in her book ''Born Female: The High Cost of Keeping Women Down'' (1968), has a similar meaning. Marie Mullaney defines the loophole woman as one who, "successful in a predominantly male field like law, business or medicine, is opposed to other wom ...

Drama (film And Television)
In film and television, drama is a category or genre of narrative fiction (or semi-fiction) intended to be more serious than humorous in tone. Drama of this kind is usually qualified with additional terms that specify its particular super-genre, macro-genre, or micro-genre, such as soap opera, police crime drama, political drama, legal drama, historical drama, domestic drama, teen drama, and comedy-drama (dramedy). These terms tend to indicate a particular setting or subject-matter, or else they qualify the otherwise serious tone of a drama with elements that encourage a broader range of moods. To these ends, a primary element in a drama is the occurrence of conflict—emotional, social, or otherwise—and its resolution in the course of the storyline. All forms of cinema or television that involve fictional stories are forms of drama in the broader sense if their storytelling is achieved by means of actors who represent ( mimesis) characters. In this broader sense, dra ...
