Beeton is a small community located in southern Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada between Tottenham and Alliston; all three were amalgamated in 1991 into the single Town of New Tecumseth. Beeton was named for a local apiary. Formerly known as Clarksville for Robert Clark, an early settler; the name changed to Beeton in 1878. Boyce Lionel Beeton (1939–1997) was a rugby league footballer in Australia's major competition, the New South Wales Rugby League. Lucy Beeton
Lucy Beeton (or Beadon; 14 May 1829 – 7 July 1886) was an Aboriginal Tasmanian schoolteacher, trader and Christian leader. Early life and family Lucy Beeton was born on Gun Carriage Island, part of the Furneaux Group in the eastern Bass Strait, in what was then the colony of Van Diemen's Land, now Tasmania (''Lutruwita).'' She and her family also lived on Badger Island. Her father was Thomas Beeton, who was descended from a London Jewish family and had been transported to Tasmania in 1817 after mutinying from the Royal Navy. After completing his sentence in 1824, he established himself as a sealer in Bass Strait. Aboriginal women on the islands were abducted and traded by sealers. In that way, Beeton traded for an Aboriginal woman, known as Bet Smith, to be his wife. Bet Smith, whose Palawa name was Emmerenna, had been abducted from Cape Portland as a child by John Harrington, a sealer, and had been "claimed" by Thomas Tucker, another sealer, after Harrington's deat ... Mrs Beeton
Isabella Mary Beeton ( Mayson; 14 March 1836 – 6 February 1865), known as Mrs Beeton, was an English journalist, editor and writer. Her name is particularly associated with her first book, the 1861 work ''Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management''. She was born in London and, after schooling in Islington, north London, and Heidelberg, Germany, she married Samuel Orchart Beeton, an ambitious publisher and magazine editor. In 1857, less than a year after the wedding, Beeton began writing for one of her husband's publications, ''The Englishwoman's Domestic Magazine''. She translated French fiction and wrote the cookery column, though all the recipes were plagiarised from other works or sent in by the magazine's readers. In 1859 the Beetons launched a series of 48-page monthly supplements to ''The Englishwoman's Domestic Magazine''; the 24 instalments were published in one volume as ''Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management'' in October 1861, which sold 60,000 copies in ... Sam Beeton
Sam Beeton (born Samuel John Beeton, 13 September 1996, Nottingham, England) is a British singer-songwriter and musician. He released his debut single "What You Look For" in September 2008, which reached number 30 in the UK Singles Chart in the week up to 20 September 2008. His first album, No Definite Answer, was released on iTunes in 2008. Early life He attended Carlton le Willows School. Sam Beeton was discovered while playing in a bar, The Old Volunteer he was still at school aged 14. Sam was signed to the Notts County School of Excellence and played for the youth teams for three years at left midfield. He played in a local young recording band called The Drains who are still playing on the Nottingham circuit. Beeton is involved in local charities as The Julie Cotton Foundation. Samuel Orchart Beeton (2 March 1831 – 6 June 1877) was an English publisher, best known as the husband of Isabella Beeton, Mrs Beeton (Isabella Mary Mayson) and publisher of ''Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management''. He also founded and published ''Boys Own, Boy's Own Magazine'' (1855–90), the first and most influential British boys' magazines, boys' magazine. Publishing career Beeton made money as the first British publisher of ''Uncle Tom's Cabin'' in 1852, securing the rights from the then-unknown Harriet Beecher Stowe. He was clever enough to realise that it would sell and the underlying message of the story underwrote his politics. In the year it was published he launched ''The Englishwoman's Domestic Magazine'', a pioneering serial for middle-class women, the same year.
