Beeron National Park
Beeron National Park is a national park at Beeron in the Wide Bay–Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The 7050-hectare park preserves plant species of high conservation value. It was formerly known as Beeron Holding or 'Rocky' paddock. It is part of both the North Burnett Region and South Burnett Region local government areas and the Brigalow Belt bioregion. The park lies within the catchment area of the Boyne River, a tributary of the Burnett River. Beeron National Park is home to six endemic species and three plants with conservation significance. In 2010, an extra 7,000 hectares significantly extended the size of the park. The addition was made possible by the cooperation of two mining companies who relinquished their mining permits. South and west of the national park is Allies Creek State Forest. It is undeveloped with no visitor facilities. Mundubbera
Mundubbera ( ) is a town and a locality in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Mundubbera had a population of 1261 people. Mundubbera is the self-proclaimed "Citrus Capital of Queensland", although this is disputed by the neighbouring (and rival) town of Gayndah. Geography The town is in the Wide Bay–Burnett region on the Burnett Highway, north west of the state capital, Brisbane and west of the regional centre, Bundaberg. Mundubbera is built on the bank on the Burnett River. The Mundubbera district is bounded on the east by the Binjour Plateau and on the south and west by the Burnett River. Devonian, Carboniferous, Triassic, and Post-Triassic sediments have all been found in the district. Wide Bay–Burnett
Wide Bay–Burnett is a region of the Australian state of Queensland, located between north of the state capital, Brisbane. The area's population growth has exceeded the state average over the past 20 years, and it is forecast to grow to more than 430,000 by 2031. It is the subject of the ''Draft Wide Bay–Burnett Regional Plan'', which aims to facilitate this growth while protecting over 90% of the region from urban development. Wide Bay was the name given by the early European explorer James Cook to a coastal indentation as he was sailing past Double Island Point. As the Port of Maryborough developed during the 19th century Wide Bay became well known as ships passed through the area before entering the Great Sandy Strait and the port. North Burnett Region
The North Burnett Region is a local government area in Queensland, Australia in the northern catchment of the Burnett River. Established in 2008, it was preceded by several previous local government areas with histories extending back to the early 1900s. It has an estimated operating budget of A$32 million. South Burnett Region
The South Burnett Region is a local government area in the South Burnett district of Queensland, Australia. Origins This Local Government was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. Prior to the 2008 amalgamation, the South Burnett Region, located in the southern catchment of the Burnett River, existed as four distinct local government areas: * the Shire of Kingaroy; * the Shire of Nanango; * the Shire of Murgon; * and the Shire of Wondai. The report recommended the new local government area should not be divided into wards and should elect six councilors and a mayor however the Interim Steering Committee applied to the State Government for four wards based on the old shire boundaries. Brigalow Belt
The Brigalow Belt is a wide band of acacia-wooded grassland that runs between tropical rainforest of the coast and the semi-arid interior of Queensland, Australia. The Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) divides the Brigalow Belt into two IBRA regions, or bioregions, ''Brigalow Belt North'' (BBN) and ''Brigalow Belt South'' (BBS). The North and South Brigalow Belt are two of the 85 bioregions across Australia and the 15 bioregions in Queensland. Together they form most of the Brigalow tropical savanna ecoregion. The Boyne River is a river located in the Wide Bay–Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. Course and features The Boyne River rises in the Stuart Range, part of the Great Dividing Range, south of Boyneside near Haly Mountain which is at the northwest extent of the Bunya Mountains and within the Bunya Mountains National Park. The river flows generally north joined by twenty tributaries, crossed by the Bunya Highway, and impounded near the town of Proston to form Lake Boondooma where the Boyne is joined by the Stuart River before reaching its confluence with the Burnett River upstream from Mundubbera at Boynewood. Burnett River
The Burnett River is a river located in the Wide Bay–Burnett and Central Queensland regions of Queensland, Australia. Course and features The Burnett River rises in the Burnett Range, part of the Great Dividing Range, close to Mount Gaeta and east of Monto. It drains a basin covering 33,210 km² which is 1.9% of the total area of Queensland. The river flows generally south past Eidsvold and Mundubbera before heading east, adjacent to the townships of Gayndah and Wallaville before entering the city of Bundaberg.
