The Real McKenzies
The Real McKenzies is a Canadian Celtic punk band founded in 1992 and based in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are one of the founders of the Celtic punk movement, albeit 10 years after The Pogues. In addition to writing and performing original music, Real McKenzies perform traditional Scottish songs, giving them a new punk-influenced sound. They have shared stages with many other bands including Rancid, Shane MacGowan, DragStrip Riot, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Xcrosscheckx, The Misfits, Metallica, and Voodoo Glow Skulls. History Founding member Paul McKenzie has been the only consistent member of the band since its inception. The band released its first album, ''Clash of the Tartans'', in 1998. Fat Wreck Chords (pronounced "Fat Records") is a San Francisco, California-based independent record label, focused on punk rock. It was started by NOFX lead singer Michael Burkett (better known as Fat Mike) in 1990. Stomp Records
Union Label Group is a record label based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was formed through the merger of the smaller labels Stomp Records, 2112 Records, and Tyrant Records. Mayday! Records was later created as a genre imprint. Stomp Records was founded in 1994 by Matt Collyer of The Planet Smashers and Jordan Swift of The Kingpins. The label specializes in third wave ska, and was founded to release ''All-Skanadian Club Volume 1'', a compilation of ska and ska punk from across Canada. Soon after that release, The Planet Smashers released their self-titled debut album and The Kingpins released the "On the Run" EP on the label. In 2000, Stomp Records merged with 2112 Records, a Montreal label that specialized in punk rock, to form Union 2112. Tyrant Records released mod revival, garage rock, and new wave music.
