	Beech Creek, Clay County, Kentucky Beech Creek is a tributary of Goose Creek in Clay County, Kentucky. It is just under long and joins the Goose approximately below the mouth of Laurel Creek. Its headwaters are at Combs Lake in the Beech Creek Wildlife Area. Tributaries and post offices The mouth of Beech is upstream of Oneida, at altitude above sea level. * Its major tributaries are: Little Beech Creek upstream The Mount Welcome postoffice was established on 1849-08-29 by postmaster Reuben May, and closed in July 1852. The Tankersley postoffice was established on 1882-07-31 by husband and wife postmasters James Franklin Tankersley and Drucilla Tankersley. It was not named for themselves but for James' father, John M. Tankersley (born in 1810 and whose surname was spelled Tankisley in the 1870 census). 	Laurel Creek, Kentucky Laurel Creek is a tributary of Goose Creek river in Clay County in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is long. The name comes from the proliferation of mountain laurel on its riverbanks. Tributaries and post offices Its eponymous post office was established by Joseph Hubbard on 1865-04-21, lasting until 1968. It was originally located at the mouth of what is now named Morgan Branch, a tributary of Laurel Creek that used to be named Falls Branch, and primarily served the area of Hubbardsville. It moved 3 miles downstream to the mouth of Collins Fork, another Laurel tributary, some time before 1902. It was a rural branch of Manchester post office from 1966 until its closure. 	Reuben May Reuben May (June 23, 1815September 26, 1902) was an American farmer and populist politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the western half of Vernon County during the 1870 and 1872 sessions. He was also twice a candidate for governor of Wisconsin, running on the Greenback ticket in 1879 and the Union Labor ticket in 1890. Earlier in life, he served as a colonel in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Early life Reuben May was born in Robinson Creek, in Pike County, Kentucky, the son of a wealthy and well-established family. He grew up on his father's estate, and served as an officer in the Kentucky Militia, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel during the Mexican–American War. 	Manchester, Kentucky Manchester is a home rule-class city in Clay County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is the seat of its county and the home of a minimum- and medium-security federal prison.
