''Bedotia longianalis'' is a species of Madagascar rainbowfish endemic to Madagascar. Its natural habitat is the lower reaches of rivers and its range extends from the Ifontsy to the Anove and it is also found on ÃŽle Sainte-Marie, in north-eastern Madagascar. Jacques Pellegrin
Jacques Pellegrin (12 June 1873, Paris – 12 August 1944) was a French zoologist. In Paris, he worked under zoologist Léon Vaillant (chair of reptiles and fishes) at the ''Muséum national d'histoire naturelle''. From 1897, Pellegrin served as ''préparateur'' at the museum. He obtained doctorates in medicine (1899) and science (1904), and in 1908 was named as an assistant director. After many missions abroad, he became sub-director of the museum in 1937, and replaced Louis Roule (1861–1942) as the chairperson of herpetology and ichthyology. He published over 600 scientific books and articles and discovered around 350 new species. Madagascar Rainbowfish
Bedotiinae are a subfamily of the rainbowfish family Melanotaeniidae, commonly known as the Madagascar rainbowfish, Madagascan rainbowfish, or Malagasy rainbowfish due to their endemism to Madagascar. It includes two genera, ''Bedotia'' and ''Rheocles''. Anatomy and morphology As the common name rainbowfish implies, they are generally colorful fishes. Bedotiins are elongated, laterally compressed, and rarely exceed 100 mm in standard length. Bedotiins exhibit varying degrees of sexual dimorphism, which is quite pronounced in some species. The anal fin spine is weak or absent. Distribution The entire family of Bedotiidae is endemic to Madagascar. Mahambo
Mahambo is a town and commune ( mg, kaominina) in Madagascar. It belongs to the Districts of Madagascar, district of Fenerive Est District, Fenerive Est, which is a part of Analanjirofo Region. The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 26,000 in 2001 commune census. Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town.
