Bedok Bus Interchange
Bedok Bus Interchange is an air-conditioned bus interchange located in the approximate center of Bedok. It is situated along Bedok North Interchange and Bedok North Drive, on the second level of Bedok Mall. It is connected to Bedok MRT station. It is the 2nd busiest bus interchange in Singapore, with 28 bus services operating from it. History The original facility opened on 25 February 1979. It was the first interchange in Singapore to use a colour-coded queue scheme. Soon after it opened, in 1981, the interchange was partially demolished and expanded at a cost of S$3 million, and work was completed in 1983. After the expansion, the interchange covered ands had 32 end-on berths, 7 sawtooth berths and 33 remote parking bays. Bedok
Bedok () is a planning area and matured residential town located in the geographical region of Tanah Merah along the south-eastern coast of the East Region of Singapore. Bedok is bounded by five other planning areas: Paya Lebar to the north, Hougang to the northwest, Tampines to the northeast and east, Geylang to the west and Marine Parade to the southwest. It also shares a maritime boundary with the Singapore Strait to the south and southeast. Population wise, Bedok is the largest planning area in the country, being home to approximately 280,000 residents. Bus Contracting Model (Singapore)
The Bus Contracting Model (BCM), formerly known as the Government Contracting Model, is a contracting model introduced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in 2014 for public buses in Singapore, implemented in 2016. The BCM is based on the Transperth model in Perth, Western Australia with quality incentive elements from London Buses. Under the BCM, local and overseas bus operators bid for contracts to operate public bus services on behalf of LTA. The LTA has also adopted a new unified lush green livery and logo for all buses, and now procures and owns the bus fleet for all public bus services in Singapore. Boon Lay Bus Interchange is an air-conditioned bus interchange located in Jurong West Central, in the western part of Singapore. It is situated within Jurong Point and integrated with the nearby Boon Lay MRT station. This interchange serves a variety of passengers, including those from Nanyang Technological University, Jurong Industrial Estate and Tuas Industrial Estate. East Coast Park
East Coast Park is a beach and a park encompassing Marine Parade, Bedok and Tampines, along the southeastern coast of Singapore. It was opened in the 1970s, after the Singapore government had completed reclaiming land off the coast at Katong which extends from Changi to Kallang. It serves these and other seaside communities. The East Coast Park is the largest park in Singapore, and is built entirely on reclaimed land with a man-made beach, where swimming is possible. The beach is protected by breakwaters. Bedok Mall
Bedok Mall is a suburban shopping mall in Bedok, Singapore and part of a mixed development compromising of retail and residential development that is integrated with a bus interchange. It was the first major shopping mall to open in Bedok and was built on the site of the former Bedok bus interchange. The mall is linked to Bedok MRT station through a link at Basement 2, and the bus interchange which is right above the mall at Level 2. It is also located next to the Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre. Bedok MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West Line in Bedok, Singapore. Located at the town centre of Bedok, this station is built on a traffic island in the middle of New Upper Changi Road. It is one of the most crowded MRT stations in eastern Singapore. Go-Ahead Singapore is a contracted bus operator operating in Singapore. It commenced operations on 4 September 2016 and it is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group. History On 15 April 2015, the Land Transport Authority called for tenders to operate 25 routes based at Changi Airport Bus Terminal, Changi Village Bus Terminal, Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, and Punggol Bus Interchange out of Loyang Bus Depot as part of its new Bus Contracting Model.
