Bedir Khan Beg
Bedir Khan Beg (Kurmanji: ''Bedirxan Beg'', tr, Bedirhan Bey; 1803–1869) was the last Kurdish Mîr and mütesellim of the Emirate of Botan. Hereditary head of the house of Rozhaki whose seat was the ancient Bitlis castle and descended from Sharafkhan Bidlisi, Bedir Khan was born in Cizre (now in Turkey). He became the Mir of the Emirate of Botan in 1821 and ruled until 1847. The Bedir Khans also claimed descent from Khalid Ibn al Walid, a General called the ''Sword of Allah'' by prophet Mohammed. Early life He was born to Abdullah Bey, and became the ruler of Botan after his cousin Seyfeddin, (who succeeded Abdullah Bey after his death) wasn't able to calm down the region and his brother Said Bey was too religious and left the leadership to Bedir Khan. Emin Ali Bedir Khan
Emin Ali Bedir Khan (1851, in Heraklion, Kandiye, Crete – 1926, in Cairo) was a founding member of the Kurd Society for Cooperation and Progress and vice president of the Society for the Elevation of Kurdistan and Kurdish politician. Emin Ali was the son of Bedir Khan Beg, the last hereditary ruler of the Bohtan, Principality of Bothan and his spouse Rewshen. He attended a state school of the Ottoman Empire and after his graduation, he began a career in the Ottoman bureaucracy. He left Crete at the age of sixteen, and went to Constantinople to receive his formation. He returned to Kandiye in 1873. There, he was employed at the local Ottoman administration. Professional career In the 1880s, he became a judicial inspector and worked in various cities and courts of the Ottoman Empire trying to implement the judicial reforms which had been issued in 1879. Bedri Pasha Bedir Khan
Bedri Pasha Bedir Khan (born in Cizre 1847/48; died 1911) was an Ottoman Kurdish politician and a member of the Bedir Khan family. Early life and education Bedri Pasha Bedir Khan was born in Cizre, at a time his father Bedir Khan Beg was involved in the defense of Bohtan, which he eventually wouldn't achieve and be exiled to Crete. It is reported that his mother was of Yazidi origin. Bedri Pasha was educated by teachers in Crete and following was able to communicate in Turkish, Arabic and Persian, besides Greek. Career In 1871, began to work for the Ottoman government in the a Syrian village in the Hawran district. Abdürrezzak Bedir Khan
Abdürrezzak Bedir Khan (1864 in Constantinople – 1918) was an Ottoman Empire, Ottoman diplomat, Kurds, Kurdish politician and a member of the Bedir Khan family. Education After he graduated from school, he entered into the Ottoman administration, following his father to the sanjak Aydın, Aydin, where his father has been appointed as the Mutasarrıf, Governor. After it was not possible for him to pursue his studies in Europe, he accepted an offer to complete his formation as an Ottoman diplomat in the Foreign Ministry of the Ottoman Empire in 1885. Diplomatic career In 1889, he was sent to Saint Petersburg in the Russian Empire to work for one year in the Ottoman Consulate as a secretary. Leyla Bedir Khan
Leyla Bedir Khan (or Bedirxan) (1903, Constantinople1986, Paris) was a ballet dancer and a Kurdish princess of the Bedir Khan family. Biography Leyla Bedir Khan's birthdate is disputed, but it was likely 31 July 1903 as she was born in Constantinople. Leyla herself said, she was born in 1908, but her father was in prison in Libya between 1906 and 1910. She was born into a noble household to Abdürrezzak Bedir Khan, a descendant of Bedir Khan Beg and Henriette Ornik, a dentist of Austrian-Jewish origin. Her first years she passed in the Ottoman Empire, but her family soon settled in Egypt, where she grew up with the diplomatic society in Cairo and Alexandria. Kamuran Ali Bedirxan ( ku, Kamiran Alî Bedirxan ,کامران عالی بەدرخان, born 21 August 1895 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire; died 6 December 1978 in Paris) was a Kurdish politician, lawyer and writer. Family He came from the family of the Bedirxans, who for centuries, as autonomous vassals of the Ottomans, ruled the Principality of Bohtan with the capital Cizre . Wiam Simav Bedirxan is a Syrian Kurdish documentary filmmaker from Homs, who co-directed the 2014 film '' Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait'' with exiled filmmaker Usama Muhammad. Bedirxan documented the Siege of Homs and sent its footage via the internet to Muhammad in Paris in order to make ''Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait'', which had its world premiere at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Wiam Simav Bedirxan was born in Saudi Arabia, where her mother was a teacher for five years. The family returned to Syria in the 1980s and proceeded to settle in Homs in 1997. She attended University in Aleppo after which she became an elementary school teacher in Homs and began to film what happens in Homs.
