Bed O' Roses Invitational Stakes
The Bed O' Roses Invitational Stakes is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and Mares four-year-olds and older, over a distance of seven furlongs on the dirt track held annually in early June at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The event currently carries a purse of $250,000. History The race was named for Alfred G. Vanderbilt II's Hall of Fame inductee, Bed O' Roses, the American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly in 1949 and the American Champion Older Female Horse of 1952. This race was first run at Jamaica Race Course and continued there until 1959, after which it moved to Aqueduct Racetrack, where it was run until 2010. It was run in two divisions in 1964 and 1979 and its distance for its first three years was a mile and a sixteenth and then again in 1977 and 1978. Belmont Park
Belmont Park is a major thoroughbred horse racing facility in the northeastern United States, located in Elmont, New York, just east of the New York City limits. It was opened on May 4, 1905. It is operated by the non-profit New York Racing Association, as are the Aqueduct Racetrack and Saratoga Race Course. The group was formed in 1955 as the Greater New York Association to assume the assets of the individual associations that ran Belmont, Aqueduct, Saratoga, and the now-defunct Jamaica Race Course. Belmont Park is typically open for racing from late April through mid-July (known as the Spring meet), and again from mid-September through late October (the Fall meet). Aqueduct Racetrack
Aqueduct Racetrack is a Thoroughbred horse racing facility and casino in the South Ozone Park, Queens, South Ozone Park and Jamaica, Queens, Jamaica neighborhoods of Queens, New York City, United States. Aqueduct is the only racetrack located within New York City limits. Its racing meets are usually from late October/early November through April. Rajiv Maragh (born July 9, 1985, in Spanish Town, Jamaica) is a jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. An Indo-Jamaican, he is the son of a jockey who rode in Jamaica before relocating to Florida where he began a career as a horse trainer. Rajiv Maragh rode his first winner at Tampa Bay Downs on February 1, 2003. He got his big break in 2008 when he was 14th in the national earnings list. Separationofpowers (foaled February 9, 2015) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2018 Test Stakes. Career Separationofpowers's first race was on July 30, 2017, at Saratoga, where she came in first. In her second race, she competed in the September 2nd, 2017 Grade-1 Spinaway Stakes, but finished in 3rd. She had better luck the next month as on October 8, 2017, she won the Frizette Stakes. This was her final win of the year after a fourth place finish at the 2017 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She had an ankle injury that caused her to miss most of the 2018 season. The break paid off though as she won the August 4th, 2018 Grade-1 Test Stakes upon her return. Javier Castellano (born October 23, 1977, in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela) is a jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. Castellano began his riding career in 1996 at Santa Rita and La Rinconada racecourses in Venezuela.
