Beauty No. 1
''Beauty No. 1'' is a 1965 film by Andy Warhol starring Edie Sedgwick, Kip Stagg a.k.a.Bima Stagg, and Chuck Wein. Synopsis and background ''Beauty No. 1'' is a precursor to Andy Warhol's better known follow up, ''Beauty No. 2'' and was originally titled ''Beauty''. The movie features Edie Sedgwick, Chuck Wein, and Kip Stagg, a.k.a. Bima Stagg. The film has a fixed point of view showing a bed with two characters on it, Sedgwick and Stagg. Chuck Wein is heard speaking but is just out of view. Sedgwick, in a skimpy outfit of bra and panties, and Stagg, wearing only jockey shorts, engage in flirting and light kissing. Wein asks Sedgwick questions seemingly designed to harass and annoy her. Stagg is more or less a bystander not interacting with Wein. After dissatisfaction with performances in the first shoot, Warhol re-cast and re-shot ''Beauty'' as ''Beauty No. 2'', with Edie Sedgwick, Chuck Wein and Gino Piserchio reprising the role of Kip Stagg. Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol (; born Andrew Warhola Jr.; August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was an American visual artist, film director, and producer who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, advertising, and celebrity culture that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting, silkscreening, photography, film, and sculpture. Edie Sedgwick
Edith Minturn Sedgwick Post (April 20, 1943 – November 16, 1971) was an American actress and fashion model, known for being one of Andy Warhol's superstars.Watson, Steven (2003), "Factory Made: Warhol and the Sixties" Pantheon Books, pp. 210–217 Sedgwick became known as "The Girl of the Year" in 1965 after starring in several of Warhol's short films in the 1960s. However, her mental health deteriorated from drug abuse, and she struggled to complete the semi-autobiographical film ''Ciao! Manhattan''. She gave up drugs and alcohol after meeting her future husband Michael Post, and completed filming ''Ciao! Manhattan'' in early 1971. Chuck Wein
Chuck Wein (March 24, 1939March 18, 2008) was an American promoter and manager of entertainment acts whose celebrity stemmed from his five-year (1964–1969) association with Andy Warhol and from his discovery of Edie Sedgwick who became a Warhol superstar of 1965. He was also a film director. Life Wein graduated from Pittsburgh's Taylor Allderdice High School in 1956. He lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he attended Harvard, graduating in 1961. A thesis he had written, centering on Pirandello's ''Six Characters in Search of an Author'', remained as a particular source of pride for him. Beauty is commonly described as a feature of objects that makes these objects pleasurable to perceive. Such objects include landscapes, sunsets, humans and works of art. Beauty, together with art and taste, is the main subject of aesthetics, one of the major branches of philosophy. Eugene "Gino" Piserchio (September 5, 1944 – March 22, 1989) was an American actor, composer and musician. Piserchio was noted for being an accomplished musician. He was one of the first musicians to master the Moog synthesizer. Early life and career Piserchio was born in Orange, New Jersey, to Joe and Jennie Piserchio. In the early 1950s, the Piserchio family moved from their Central Avenue home in Orange to Northfield Avenue in Livingston, New Jersey. It was there that Piserchio completed his grammar and high school educations. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1962. The Andy Warhol Museum is located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is the largest museum in North America dedicated to a single artist.
