He won the gold medal in the team pursuit event at the 2021 World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships. and repeated this again in 2023. Speed skating is a competitive form of ice skating in which the competitors racing, race each other in travelling a certain distance on Ice skate, skates. Types of speed skating are long track speed skating, short track speed skating, and marathon speed skating. The 2023 KNSB Dutch Allround Championships in speed skating were held in Heerenveen at the Thialf ice skating rink from Tuesday 27 December to Wednesday 28 December 2022. The tournament was part of the 2022–2023 speed skating season. Patrick Roest and Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong won the allround titles. Patrick Roest won all four distances.
