Malcolm Beaty (born 11 January 1939) is a former English cricketer. Beaty was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Carlisle, Cumberland. Beaty made his debut for Cumberland against Northumberland in the 1957 Minor Counties Championship. He played minor counties cricket for Cumberland from 1957 to 1979, making a total of 119 appearances for the county, the last of which came against the Lancashire Second XI. In 1978, he made four List A appearances for Minor Counties East in the Benson & Hedges Cup, against Middlesex, Sussex, Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire. He struggled in his four appearances with the bat, scoring just 2 runs at an average of 0.66. Zelmo "Big Z" Beaty ( ; October 25, 1939 – August 27, 2013) was an American basketball player. He played eight seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and four in the rival American Basketball Association (ABA). A three-time ABA All-Star, Beaty was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 2016. Richard William Beaty (c.1799–1883) was an Irish music teacher, composer and organist. He is now known for ''Tenderness'', a popular hymn tune of the 19th century. Life He was the son of William Beary, born in Dublin, and was educated at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. He was appointed organist and musical instructor at the Molyneux Asylum for Blind Women, Dublin, around 1824. Beaty lived in Blessington Street, Dublin. He preached and was organist of the Free Church, Great Charles Street, Dublin from 1828 to 1877. His successor as organist was his pupil Richard Harrison. He was master of the choristers in Christ Church Cathedral from February 1830, where he had been deputising for the absent Walter Hamerton; he resigned the post in 1872. Powhatan Beaty (October 8, 1837 – December 6, 1916) was an African American soldier and actor. During the American Civil War, he served in the Union Army's 5th United States Colored Infantry Regiment throughout the Richmond–Petersburg Campaign. He received America's highest military decoration, the Medal of Honor, for taking command of his company at the Battle of Chaffin's Farm, after all officers had been killed or wounded. Following the war, he became an orator and actor, appearing in amateur theater productions in his home of Cincinnati, Ohio. His most well-known stage performance was an 1884 appearance at Ford's Opera House on 9th Street in Washington, D.C., opposite Henrietta Vinton Davis.
