Beatriz Souza
Beatriz Rodrigues de Souza (; born 20 May 1998 in Itariri) is a Brazilian judoka. She represented Brazil at the 2024 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal in the Women's +78 kg competition. Early life Beatriz Rodrigues de Souza was born on 20 May 1998 in Itariri, São Paulo, daughter of the military veteran and ex-judoka Poscedonio José de Souza Neto. She was raised in the coastal town of Peruíbe. Career Her first medal was at the 2017 Pan American Championships, held in Panama City. Souza won a medal at the 2019 World Judo Championships. Souza won the silver medal in her event at the 2022 Judo Grand Slam Tel Aviv held in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 2024 Summer Olympics, she defeated Raz Hershko, winning Brazil's first gold medal in the Women's over 78 kg category, with Sarah Menezes Sarah Gabrielle Cabral de Menezes (born March 26, 1990) is a judoka from Brazil. 2023 Pan American Games
The 2023 Pan American Games ( es, Juegos Panamericanos de 2023, links=no), officially the XIX Pan American Games and commonly known as Santiago 2023, is a forthcoming international multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, scheduled to be held in Santiago, Chile from 20 October to 5 November 2023. These are the first Pan American Games to be held in Chile, and the eighth to be held in South America. The games are scheduled to be held in 39 venues across in the Santiago Metropolitan Region and three other regions of Chile. The Pan American Games and the 2023 Parapan American Games were organized by the Santiago Organizing Committee for the 2023 Pan and Parapan American Games.
