Beatrice Fairfax
''Beatrice Fairfax'' is an American Silent film, silent film serial directed and produced by Leopold Wharton and Theodore Wharton. First released on August 7, 1916 in film, 1916, the series consists of 15 weekly episodes and features the character of "Beatrice Fairfax" (Grace Darling). The character was inspired by the popular newspaper advice column ''Marie Manning (writer), Ask Beatrice Fairfax'', which had been the world's first column of its kind when launched in 1898. The weekly film serial was a popular genre of the time, and the films' producers, the Wharton brothers, also made serials such as ''The Exploits of Elaine''. However, ''Beatrice Fairfax'' is more accurately a series, since the episodes consist of self-contained stories rather than a linked serial narrative. Leopold Wharton
Leopold Wharton (September 1, 1870 – September 27, 1927) was an American film director, producer and writer. He directed 37 films between 1911 and 1922, including the 1915 film ''The New Adventures of J. Rufus Wallingford'', which featured Oliver Hardy. In 1920, Wharton joined The Lambs Club. He was the brother of Theodore Wharton, who was also a film director. He was born in Manchester, England, and died in New York City. Nigel Barrie
Nigel Barrie (5 February 1889, in Calcutta, British India – 8 October 1971, in South Africa) was an Indian-born British actor. Biography Barrie's background as a dancer and actor on legitimate stages and in vaudeville in both Great Britain and the United States paved the way to early success in silent films. Olive Thomas
Olive Thomas (born Oliva R. Duffy; October 20, 1894 – September 10, 1920) was an American silent-film actress, art model, and photo model. Thomas began her career as an illustrator's model in 1914, and moved on to the ''Ziegfeld Follies'' the following year. During her time as a Ziegfeld girl, she also appeared in the more risqué show ''The Midnight Frolic''. In 1916, she began a successful career in silent films and would appear in more than 20 features over the course of her four-year film career. That year she also married actor Jack Pickford, the younger brother of fellow silent-film star Mary Pickford. On September 10, 1920, Thomas died in Paris five days after ingesting her husband's syphilis medication, mercury dichloride, that brought on acute nephritis. Although her death was ruled accidental, news of her hospitalization and subsequent death were the subject of speculation in the press. The band's name is an acronym for "Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience", based on a course taken by drummer Jacob Marshall while a student at Old Dominion University.
