Beating Heart (film)
''Beating Heart'' (French: ''Battement de coeur'') is a 1940 French comedy film directed by Henri Decoin and starring Danielle Darrieux, Claude Dauphin and André Luguet. It was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris. The film' sets were designed by the art directors Léon Barsacq and Jean Perrier. It was inspired by the 1939 Italian film ''Heartbeat''. The film was remade in Hollywood as ''Heartbeat'' in 1946 starring Ginger Rogers and Basil Rathbone. Henri Decoin
Henri Decoin (18 March 1890 – 4 July 1969) was a French film director and screenwriter, who directed more than 50 films between 1933 and 1964. He was also a swimmer who won the national title in 1911 and held the national record in the 500 m freestyle. He competed in the 400 m freestyle at the 1908 Summer Olympics and in the water polo tournament at the 1912 Summer Olympics. Biography During World War I, Decoin served as a pilot. Billancourt Studios was a film studio in Paris which operated between 1922 and 1992. Located in Boulogne-Billancourt, it was one of the leading French studios. It was founded in the silent era by Henri Diamant-Berger. Philip St. John Basil Rathbone MC (13 June 1892 – 21 July 1967) was a South African-born English actor. He rose to prominence in the United Kingdom as a Shakespearean stage actor and went on to appear in more than 70 films, primarily costume dramas, swashbucklers, and, occasionally, horror films. Plot Professor Aristide (Basil Rathbone) runs a school for pickpockets in Paris. He takes on pupils like Yves (Mikhail Rasumny) and young Arlette (Ginger Rogers) by testing their dishonesty.
