Beast (restaurant)
Beast was a restaurant in Portland, Oregon. The business earned chef and owner Naomi Pomeroy a James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Northwest in 2014. Description The restaurant served French and Pacific Northwest cuisine in a 600-square-foot dining room with two tables for communal dining. The restaurant served prix fixe dinners as well as brunch. History Pomeroy opened Beast in 2007 with business partner Micah Camden and sous chef Mika Paredes. Pomeroy was negotiating a lease to relocate the business as of 2012. The restaurant closed in March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The space was converted into a market called Ripe Cooperative. Reception Beast and Le Pigeon were named co-2008 Restaurants of the Year by ''The Oregonian''. Naomi Pomeroy
Naomi Pomeroy, born in Corvallis, Oregon, in 1974, is a professional chef and restaurateur. In an interview, Pomeroy explains that she began cooking at the age of three and created her first recipe at the age of four. She graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 1997 with a degree in history. Pomeroy has no formal culinary or business training; she developed her skills by watching other food-industry professionals. In 2007, she opened the restaurant Beast in Portland, Oregon. Previously, she started Gotham Tavern, Gotham Coffee shop, and ClarkLewis restaurant with Michael Hebb. In 2013, ''Working Mother'' magazine featured an article which details Pomeroy's experiences as a working single parent. Concordia is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon, United States, named after Concordia University, which was located within it. The neighborhood borders are NE 22nd Ave. on the west, NE Columbia Blvd. on the north, and NE 42nd Ave. on the east.
