Edward Fitzgerald Beale
Edward Fitzgerald "Ned" Beale (February 4, 1822 – April 22, 1893) was a national figure in the 19th-century United States. He was a naval officer, military general, explorer, frontiersman, Indian affairs superintendent, California rancher, diplomat, and friend of Kit Carson, Buffalo Bill Cody and Ulysses S. Grant. He fought in the United States-Mexican War, emerging as a hero of the Battle of San Pasqual in 1846. He achieved national fame in 1848 in carrying to the east the first gold samples from California, contributing to the gold rush. In the late 1850s, Beale surveyed and built Beale's Wagon Road, which many settlers used to move to the West, and which became part of Route 66 and the route for the Transcontinental railroad. Gerard Beale (born 18 July 1990) is a New Zealand international rugby league professional footballer who last played for the St. George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL. Edith Bouvier Beale (November 7, 1917 – January 14, 2002), nicknamed Little Edie, was an American socialite, fashion model, and cabaret performer. She was a first cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Jacqueline Onassis and Lee Radziwill, Lee Bouvier Radziwill. Anthony A. Beale (born October 22, 1967) is an American politician and the alderman of the 9th ward of the City of Chicago, Illinois United States. Beale is noted as having been one of the youngest members to serve as elected official on the City of Chicago's City Council. Beale was elected in 1999, and is currently serving his sixth term. Dorothea Beale LL.D. (21 March 1831 – 9 November 1906) was a suffragist, educational reformer and author. As Principal of Cheltenham Ladies' College, she became the founder of St Hilda's College, Oxford. Early and family life Dorothea Beale was born on 21 March 1831 at 41 Bishopsgate Street, London, the fourth child and third daughter of Miles Beale, a surgeon, of a Gloucestershire family and who took an active interest in educational and social issues. Gregory K. Beale (born 1949 in Dallas, Texas; also known as G. K. Beale) is a biblical scholar, currently a Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. He is an ordained minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. James Thomas (J. Thomas "Tom") Beale (born 1947) is an American mathematician, specializing in fluid dynamics, partial differential equations, and numerical analysis. J. Thomas Beale grew up in Savannah, Georgia. In 1967 he graduated from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) with a B.S. in mathematics. Bernard Charles Beale
Bernard Charles Beale (10 September 1830 – 16 January 1910) was a New Zealand doctor and local body politician. Born in England, he was a licensed surgeon assistant and also worked as a ship's surgeon before emigrating with his wife to New Zealand in 1861. He set up practice in Nelson before moving to Auckland and being commissioned in the Waikato Militia. He was given a land grant in Hamilton at the end of his military service and settled there with his wife. He practiced medicine, acted as a coroner, and became involved in local body politics. He served a brief but tempestuous term from March to December 1880 as the 4th mayor of Hamilton. He later moved back to Auckland, where he died in 1910 at the age of 79.
