Ștefănești ( yi, שטעפנשט, he, שטפנשט) is a small town in Botoșani County, Western Moldavia, Romania. It administers four villages: Bădiuți, Bobulești, Stânca and Ștefănești-Sat. The town is located near where the Bașeu River discharges into the Prut River, on the shore of the Stânca-Costești reservoir. Stânca is a border checkpoint with Moldova, connected via the Stânca-Costești Dam to the town of Costești, Moldova. The Prut (also spelled in English as Pruth; , uk, Прут) is a long river in Eastern Europe. It is a left tributary of the Danube. In part of its course it forms Romania's border with Moldova and Ukraine.
